Great staff, always very welcoming, most instructors are helpful when you asked them to give you tips. Business is very one-sided and not very customer focuses . They change classes without notifying you, changing standard 2 group 60min workouts to 3 group 60min classes, which typically are very busy (45 people in a pretty small gym) and create a lot of downtime . They tell you that you can bring your own HR monitor and a lot of people do but they changed their internal software and new members basically can only work with their own HR monitors if you want them on the screens, ($100 for the arm version). I used by Garmin HR Watch as it shows you on your arm in which zone you are at (red, orange etc etc) and it provides you with more functions for more sports (heights, swimming pace, biked trail performance, steps, etc etc). Parking is a pretty difficult one, they don't provide enough parking on site, so you have to choose between a parking somewhere across the street (South Blvd), BoA or Lowes, not a dealbreaker, but clearly not enough space for the current demand. Overall OT is a fantastic way to get fit, but I'll check others places due to the current...
Read moreBeen going here about 4 months, and the best part about it is that I actually go! Lol! Since you can use the app with their heart rate monitor outside the classes, I can verify that I definitely go harder in class than when I workout on my own. The instructors have all been pretty great, so no complaints there.
A few critical observations: another review was right, parking at this location is not sufficient. I happen to work within walking distance, so that’s why it hasn’t been an issue. There are also not enough showers/restrooms for people to get ready before/after. I have had to sit around for 10+ minutes many times, which is a little aggravating on my lunch hour.
That said, I still really enjoy the gym, and it’s working for me. Haha, not being able to cancel a class at the last minute is actually pretty nice for getting out of stuff sometimes too ;) (read: going out to lunch and blowing my daily calories right out of the water!)
Oh, and this place is also REALLY clean! I have never been there when they were not cleaning, and the culture is definitely that you wipe down your equipment EVERY TIME. Nice for my...
Read moreOrangetheory South End is my home away from home. This studio has truly changed my life for the better. There is a real sense of community here, which leads to a healthy dose of accountability as well. I want to show up and work hard for my OTF family and most importantly, myself. I’ve been to many OTF studios, and while OTF itself is an awesome workout wherever you go, this studio is on another level in terms of energy, motivation, goal-setting, and inspiration. The coaches are always energetic and very encouraging; they know how and when to push you without being overbearing. I mean how many places can you go where a coach recognizes that you’ve increased your running speed or you’re getting stronger and grabbing heavier weights? You will find that here, along with a few friends too ;) If you’ve been considering trying Orangetheory, this is your sign to go check it out. You will be welcomed with open arms, treadmills, rowers, and weights! Even my dog...
