I'm a huge fan of Cava. I have sleep apnea and insomnia and there are few places I can eat that don't make me sick. Cava is so healthy and AMAZING. I've started going to the South End location bc it's close to work... However in all three instances at South End, I've had terrible experiences with this experience having me contact support.
I came to pick up my order just as they were about to prepare my second bowl. I listened to the associate brag about getting "another bad review" but I was ready to ignore that. I watched him prepare the second bowl and neglect adding extra pickled onions as requested. I was ready to let this go too because really it's not a big deal and I'm not a confrontational person... but when a coworker asked the gentleman if he made sure to put extra pickled onions on, he lied and said yes. This prompted me to check the other bowl which also didn't have extra pickled onions... So I asked politely if I could get extra on the side. Not a big deal, truly. Except...
I'm at work now and multiple ingredients are missing from my two dishes including the chicken, tomatoes and feta. Also, this is the second time the brown rice is ROCK hard. No chicken AND hard rice? Im very disappointed in this location.
The team should be aware that customers are dealing with all kinds of life and health issues because Cava is our chance to have not just a healthy meal but something to look forward to on a particularly bad day with little sleep, stomach issues, depression and an awful migraine. Read moreCava's food is consistently good, so no issue there. The problem is their lack of customer service, which I've found to be the case at multiple locations. I know they've reduced their portion sizes. I get it. All restaurants are doing that. But I know I'm about to get charged $15 for this bowl and the server barely put any chicken on the half & half, chicken and roasted veggie bowl. I said, "Can you put a little more meat?" He asked, "Do you want to pay extra for 2 scoops of meat?" I said, "No, I just observed the person before me get a full portion (not double) and you're not even putting half of what was put on their bowl". Besides he skimped on the veggies too. He doesn't say anything but proceeds to add a few more crumbs of meat. I was seriously about to tell him nevermind and just leave the store because I could tell this was going to be another skimpy bowl. Then when adding the other toppings I requested he barely makes sure anything is in the scoops or on the tongs as he serves them. It was all in all an arrogant, nonchalant uncaring attitude. I returned home with 2 very skimpy bowls. I pay $15 to $20 for lunch most times nowadays. But to act as though giving such a small portion is Ok just isn't right. I had never been to a CAVA before and while there was not a lot of people there, I was made to feel like an inconvenience from the beginning for not knowing everything about CAVA. The first words out of my mouth we’re “Please be patient with me, this is my first time here and I’m not sure what all you offer here!” I even said that because I noticed how short and rude the line workers were already to those who did know their orders by heart! I was definitely met with the same if not worse treatment because all I got in response was eye rolls and was told to just pick things. I’m not very familiar with Mediterranean food and noticed that they seemed annoyed by that so I just asked for them to tell me what was good and that I’d get that. They again rolled their eyes and smacked the counter and repeated that I “just pick things”. I proceeded to just pick things, and obviously did not really look or taste very appetizing.
