My first experience as a client was sub standard in the services and this occurs solely based off of the skill set of the technician. That being said after my service was completed and upon checking out I rebooked my next appointment with the request of someone more experienced I pointed out a male technician that was doing a pedicure on a Caucasian woman that was seated beside my chair. He was so attentive, provided her with a back pillow, whatever she requested he obliged all the while smiling and engaging. Unfortunately, the changing of technician didnât provide the reciprocity of which I was supposed to receive. He rushed through the pedicure was non verbal there was no offer of beverage the first time nor the second (sidebar: I am new to Charlotte and didnât know the alcohol and non alcoholic beverages were complimentary, nor did either technician offer me any.) After disclosing these two encounters I decided to return a third time with a recording device. I purposefully did not make an appointment altered my appearance and arrived to the location 20 minutes before the shop opened. From a distance I see a female of Asian descent holding a Starbucks cup and a set of keys. I said âGood Morning.â She nodded. She unlocked the door and I asked âshould I wait while you disarm the alarm?â No reply. I walked in after her and stated I would like eyebrows waxed and a pedicure. She said, â I donât do that only tipsâ. Okay, where are all of the techs? She said. âI donât know if anyone else is coming inâ. I said so you mean to tell me you have no knowledge of who else is coming in and you are only capable of doing one service where is the manager? âI donât know? A few minutes later another worker appears entering from the garage entrance. They speak in their native language and she never came onto the floor just immediately began folding towels busying herself. I asked again can she do the services I requested? she said no she doesnât do those things either. She asked âDo you have an appointment? I said âNo, the sign says Walk-ins welcomeâ. The front entrance door opens and a Caucasian female enters. In unison both workers greeted her with a âGood morningâ she said â hello, I donât have an appointment and I need a manicure and pedicureâ. The Caucasian woman looks to me and says âhave you been waiting long? Yes. I was here before they opened and am being denied services. The tech that opened the store came over and said âyou have to make an appointment or come back in a few hours. I said so, they accept walk ins, I was here before your store opened, you denied your abilities to not do what I requested, you dismiss me, communicate to the next incoming staff and further insult me when a Caucasian woman enters as a walk in. Greet her, offer her a beverage and say follow me to the pedicure station. Today, I received a $5.00 customer appreciation off any service. My advise to all my intellectual beings. Know your worth, donât be accepting of xenophobic behaviors and racism. Our dollars are too invested in the businesses of others that donât want us there because of what and who we are. Since this location only respects a specific race, take your business elsewhere. No judgment, No turned down looks and absent from refusal of being served. Social media is such a great platform to share these experiences and bring much needed awareness. My advice to the owners, be advised illegal practices can and will lead to hefty fines, lawsuits and a...
Read moreMy experience at Ultra Nails was overall positive and I was willing to overlook what I thought was an isolated incident, but this establishment has left me no other recourse. While having a new acrylic set put on, my real nails began to burn. I politely told the nail tech Cindy that my nails are burning and she began to spray them with water. It continued to happen and she could see it because I kept shaking my hands to get relief of the burning sensation that continued to happen while she was applying the powder that was dipped into a liquid solution. I looked online to see if this was normal and my research uncovered it was not. She continued to do my nails and I made no complaints about her service only what I mentioned to her quietly. When I returned three weeks later to get a fill, I was informed by the receptionist that she was refusing to service me. I asked the reason why and was given none by the receptionist and she had no idea. It was odd to me but, I was ok with going to someone else. I called to make another appointment and was told now Hahn was refusing to service me with no explanation given. Keep in mind, Hahn has never done my nails before. I am an African American woman, not that that should matter but, just stating the facts and providing context. This whole thing started from Cindy. I did nothing to her but, Iâm made to feel insulted and treated unjustly, it has no merit. Iâd like to add since you refused to service me Cindy, and are telling other techs to not service me, why didnât you refuse my tips. Iâve been getting my nails done for 30 years and this type of service has never happened to me by anyone in the service industry. Ultra Nails never banned me from entering its salon, just its techs who have notes listed next to my name when I go to book an appointment. I canât help but to wonder what they have listed next to other patrons. Feel free to reach out to me if you would like an opportunity to correct this before I file a formal complaint with the Better Business Bureau. I...
Read moreAll I say is WOW!! This Nail Boutique is just that; luxury home away from home. I just moved here from California and I have been searching low and wide for a nail tech to meet my expectations. I am extremely picky about my nails and money is no object when it comes to my pampering and self-care. GABRIEL!!!! Gabriel exceeded that he is everything and more! His attention to detail, professionalism, and just over our artistry is the best. I have finally found my Nail Tech!
UPDATE 6-19: Gabriel was let go unfortunately. I was called a week prior to my appointment to switch to another nail tech either Henry or Mia. I chose Henry based on the representatives opinion in popularity. (That was a lie) Turns out hand but he did a really good job on my nails, but did not pay attention to detail as far as what I was telling him in regards to the previous text errors and repairs I needed. And I got my nails done on the 14th and had to come right back to get my nails repaired because they split in half because they were too thin. Here today and did not show up for work! The reception is stated that they would have to reschedule me and their policy is (make a note of this) the nail tech who worked on your nails would have to repair your nails. I had to be persistent in regards to my time wasted, and the issue of the nail tech not showing up for work not being my problem. I was here for my appointment early and they should be able to accommodate me as well as comp the service for my inconvenience. Another nail tech Mia stepped in at almost 12 from my 1115 appointment then Henry finally showed up to repair my nails. I still believe this is a great Nail Boutique, but could be more orderly in regards to accommodating their clients whoâve made...
