A Witch's Tale
About 2 years ago, I browsed the store. The store's name was catchy and appealing to someone looking for quality products for my business of making potions. You see, I am a witch. Unexpectedly, I found a most beautiful broom. Red bamboo handle, green reed bristles woven together with bright yellow and red string. Similar exquisitely woven yellow and red string detailing gave the top of the broom a good hand hold. A Sweep Dream model. Perfect for sweeping up lizard tails, dragon teeth and newts hair that I invariably spill on the floor in the fury of making a potion. It fit my hands well and had a good swing. Expensive, yes, but the good witch that I am felt good helping workers in Thailand. I could not wait to get it home.
I could not wait to get it home so I could try flying it in privacy. The trial was exhilarating!
That following Halloween, I was the envy of my coven as well as the World Association of Witches. I was chosen to lead the flight across the full moon. I was fast; the broom maneuvered well, dipping, diving, twirling, summer salting, rolling.
Alas, this year, my broom fell apart. After almost 2 years, no longer did it have edges that could it flick toad's eyes from corners, the bristles were falling out in clumps. The beautiful string detailing unraveled. Flying with it was equally disappointing. It no longer held turns; maneuvering was shaky and dangerous as I nearly collided with tops of trees and almost impaled myself on a lightening rod. I was relegated to the back of the flock. No longer was I and my Sweep Dream broom competitive as I and the other witches vied for a preferred spot in the annual flight across the full moon this year. I could barely hold the broom off the ground and trailed well behind the others.
I had to do something. I bought a bargain model broom at a dollar type store. Light weight, flimsy and not very pretty. It would do. I can buy one every year for 26 years compared with the 26 dollar broom from the 5th Season that lasted barely 2 years. It will keep me in the middle of the witch broom formation each Halloween but at least, I will not...

Read moreStopped in to find an insecticide for our apple trees. Japanese beetles attacked it like crazy last year! We easily find the insecticide section, but we were overwhelmed by all of the choices! I was able to easily find an employee to ask for help. He said he wasn't as familiar with apple trees as he was vegetables so he offered to get his boss, which I agreed to. She happily talked to us about our options including milky spore and kaolin clay. I inquired about the price of the kaolin clay and she went and found the price for me. We decided to try the milky spore, but she advised it was best used in February and August so we decided to come back later in the season to pick it up and apply. What was also nice was that she mentioned that she used it on hers and applied it for one year and not the two that was recommended and still found it had great results.
This is a great place for knowledgeable, helpful employees. Also a great selection of indoor and outdoor plants! Will...
