We recently adopted our incredible dog, Denahi—now renamed Monty—from the Scott County Humane Society, and I cannot recommend this organization enough! From start to finish, they exceeded all expectations. Their team is passionate about connecting pets with loving families, and their process is seamless and thoughtful.
Unlike other private nonprofit rescues we’ve worked with, where communication could take weeks or applications seemed like an endless waiting game, Scott County Humane Society was incredibly responsive. Their focus is clearly on finding the best fit for both the pets and their adopters. We’re experienced pet owners with a great application, but with other organizations, we still faced delays or even had dogs adopted out from under us while we waited. That was NOT the case here.
We met Monty through their well-organized meet-and-greet system at a neutral park, ensuring that our dogs could meet in a stress-free environment and that we could see if his personality was a good match for our family. Spoiler alert: it was! We fell in love instantly, and shortly after, we received the email confirming that Monty had found his forever home with us.
I also love the fact that Scott County Humane Society places their animals in foster homes rather than keeping them in kennels. While I initially missed the idea of seeing the dogs in a centralized facility, I quickly realized how much better this system is for the animals. They’re in loving homes, not cages, which makes for well-socialized and happier pets.
This organization is a breath of fresh air compared to others we’ve dealt with in Minnesota. It’s clear that they genuinely care about making a difference and aren’t just going through the motions or working the system. Thanks to them, Monty has been the perfect addition to our family, and we couldn’t be happier.
We will absolutely work with Scott County Humane Society again in the future, and we’re proud to support their cause through donations. If you’re looking for an honest, compassionate rescue that truly puts the animals first, this is the place to go. Thank you...
Read moreAs I waited for the foster mother to bring the cat family I was curious about, a woman came into the building with her family. She appeared to be upset, claiming she was promised one of the cats from the same cat family I was curious in; however, upon arriving to pick up the promised cat, she was informed there was no more cats, and they offered other selections. I had filled out an application, and was assured that the kitten I was waiting for was indeed assigned to my application. My family and I even were allowed to introduce ourselves to the kitten in the meeting room. After the lady's display of disappointment, I insisted on paying for the kitten before leaving. I was informed that payment was required upon pick up, was assured yet again by the director and the foster mother that I was to be the adopted mother of this kitten. We left with confidence, and waited patiently for the kitten to get her medical updates. I called the week we were informed she'd have her surgery. The response call was yet another assurance of adoption, and informed me that she'd be ready the following week. The call finally came. The kitten was ready for adoption that weekend; however, she had 2 applications ahead of me! Wait, what? I was assured 3x that I was the adoptive mother, and now I'm moved down to applicant #3! Clearly, my case isn't the only one if the woman at the store was also promised a cat only to be given disappointment. I was informed that it was their mistake due to paperwork issues. I hope they figure out a better system of filing paperwork before someone...
Read moreCouldn’t have asked for a better place to adopt my kitty! Now named Nyx, we adopted her last November and per her estimated birthday on her records, she has just turned 1 years old today! Last year, Tom was super helpful with the process of meeting and adopting Nyx (Previously named Elvis Presley) and we immediately fell in love with her spunky personality. She’s been a hoot since and adapted really well, not afraid to show her feelings. She’s really kept my older, more reserved cat Midna on her toes with her spontaneous ways (crab walking down the hallway for no apparent reason), but they’ve really grown fond of each other, her older sister running to her aid when she thinks Nyx made too much of a crashing noise. She’s fluffed out so much in the time being, her feather duster of a tail making a dramatic entrance everywhere she goes. Thank you to all of you at Carver Scott Humane Society for everything you do and I hope this update on one of your little ones reminds you of how life changing your help is for...
