I've been going to this park for about 2 years now. There is an urgent matter every one who attends this park must be made aware of. Every morning at around 8 AM there is an elderly couple with two dogs, a black one and a brownish-tan dog. THESE DOGS ARE VERY AGGRESSIVE! They are equipped with Shock Collars, and are abused during their stay. I've personally witnessed this. They attacked my dog, whom is EXTREMELY dog friendly! They gave no warning, or indication that their dogs are aggressive. But the whimper in their voice...you could tell they have shock collars regularly used. When confronting the man about his dogs and the safety of other companions at this PUBLIC dog park, he said "you came in here on your own accord. you heard my dogs barking at your dog, yet you still came in here." completely removing the blame from himself for his aggressive dogs. He happily made us aware that he is there every morning, at the same time. If you are willing to bring your dog to this dog park, steer clear of this couple. They will not give you warning, and they will not care if they hurt your dog. I really hope someone reads this and understands the...
Read moreThis park is very dangerous for small dogs. It’s badly designed. The fence that separates the big dogs from the small has a fence door that opens easily, it’s not locked. Unfortunately I did not see it and while my Westie was happily walking around, two Pitt Bulls got through and attacked my dog. The owners were slow to respond while I screamed for them to grab their dogs. One of the dogs had a shock collar and the owner finally activated it but the second dog continued to attack my dog. My husband had to kick the dog, went behind it and pulled on the collar until the dog let go. My dog lost some hair from the top of head (see picture). I’m so grateful that he survived the attack, thanks to my husband’s quick action. The park has a sign warning that dogs that do not socialize properly should not be in the park. I don’t blame the dog, I blame the owner for his poor judgment and the park’s bad design. There should be no connection between the two areas. The park is lovely and clean and most pet owners are friendly but it’s a risk for small dogs. I will...
Read moreSo the other dog patrons that come to this park are fine, and should your pup need a later (after dark) outing you will not be bothered. Also, there is plenty of parking close to the dog park. However, the problems with this dog park are many. It is fairly small, not well cared for and in disrepair. The park is always muddy. Now I realize every dog park struggles with some mud issues, but the vast majority of the park is muddy and stays muddy long after the last rainfall. As far as the disrepair, the gates barely work. They are difficult to slide into a closed position, and never open full wide. There are dogbag stations which are rarely filled however, regulars do leave some bags tied to the fence. There is also a small water fountain outside the park that is only on about two months out of the year. All this said, if you are a local and just need a quick trip dog run, it will do. If you need to drive more than 10 minutes to get there,...
