This is first time in our life including our kids to try escape room. We first booked the billionaire dent but a beautiful minor incident happens(was told there were broken lightbulb glasses in the room) after we check-in. We ended up switch to Egypt Tomb. The minor incident wasn’t anyone’s fault. We believed that the game must be very fun(saw the players’ happy face while they walked out from the billionaire dent room). It must be really challenging that they try to search every detail of the room, including to examine and remove lightbulb for clues. The store act very quick to respond to this incident. Moreover, our game master Autumn, she is truly amazing person and very friendly. My anxiety was level up the moment I step inside the Egypt Tomb theme room. I feel like I couldn’t breathe and need to leave immediately at the moment when door is shut. While Autumn, she saw me getting nervous when she going over the game rule. She is very attentive and tries to calm and comfort my anxiety by talking to me and explain as detail as possible. Knowing that I might have claustrophobia, she immediately open the door to accommodate and take every step she to alleviate my anxiety but I refused her kind gestures to have the door open. By just talking to her, my attention was distracted and so my anxiety level drop as well. Therefore, I asked if possible can she stay with us during the whole games. With her being in the room makes me feel more secure and relax. Not quite long, I was able to get back on track and focus on finding clue to escape the room. My anxiety level rise up again when we found a small tight secret s-shape passage which only allow one person to pass and it was dead-end but this time I was able to calm myself down not letting the passout, can’t breathe or run away thought taking over my attention because I know Autumn is there.
Like I said this is our first time play escape room including my 6 years old toddler. My 6 years old nonstop asking a bunch of questions, she is curious with all the items she found and Autumn didn’t hesitated to answer. She is super patient and sweet in guiding her without giving out the answer, that my 6 years old was thrilled with the whole process. She was able to solve one of the puzzles. In addition, Autumn did amazing job by watching us exploring and finding clues and only step in to give a little hint when she see us struggling. She also asked our permission first if it is okay that she can give us the hint to help out which I really appreciate. I would like to applaud the front desk gentleman. He came in to check on Autumn to see if she’s doing okay because she has been gone in our room since the beginning of the game. It is nice to see such wonderful working atmosphere that staffs are looking after each other making you feel like wish you can be part of the team.
Eventually we escape the room. It was so much fun that my kids immediately ask if they can play another escape room. Unfortunately, we didn’t because some of us are hungry and also I need to catch my breath with what I went through. It was remarkable experience, especially I didn’t know I can manage to stay till the end of the game. I know I definitely won’t be able to accomplish without Autumn’s help. We are definitely coming back for sure and would like to request Autumn...
Read moreThe Egyptian Tomb has a very well-designed atmosphere and is an immersive experience. However, the way that our room was run, in particular, played a part in why we did not escape.
Our game master had asked us prior if we would like help throughout the room or if we did not want any help unless we asked. We said that we would like help throughout the room, but we were not helped in the room unless we asked for a clue anyway. The game master also interrupted our game by coming into the room multiple times while it was already in progress, which we found to be unprofessional. Not to mention, he did not stop our time during these interruptions.
When he came into the room, he also told us that he was going to step away from watching us for a minute and that he would let us know when he was back to watching our group. A few minutes later, he typed out on the monitor that he was back. There was a decent amount of time that he was not watching us while we were waiting for him to start watching us again because we needed help. We found this to be a weird and unprofessional thing for a game master to do. We only had three puzzles left at the end when our time ran out, and we would have had more time if some of it hadn't been wasted.
We also were not offered the opportunity to take a photo at the end, so we did not end up getting a photo.
Overall, the experience was fun, and the room was very cool, but we definitely would have had a better chance of escaping if the game master had not wasted a decent amount of our time with this unprofessional behavior and had given us more help like we had asked for in the beginning considering it was only two of us, and there is a pattern of two-people groups not getting out of many rooms here because of how many puzzles there are to...
Read moreI did Area 51 with part of my family (4 people total) with Keira as our game master. It was an incredible time; I would definitely recommend this room! It had wonderful theming and props, lots of puzzles (not all of which were linear, which was great for everybody to have something to do), and even a few fun surprises! My family and I loved how the puzzles tied into the story so well, making for a truly immersive experience. Additionally, Keira was such a sweet and engaging host, adding to our overall enjoyment. Our only regret was that we couldn’t stay to do another room! I would definitely recommend booking at least a day in advance, because same-day availabilities are scarce (even on a weekday).
UPDATE: A year later I returned with my full family plus my boyfriend (7 people). We completed the Laboratory and Billionaire’s Den rooms with Cole and Chloe, respectively. Each host was friendly, enthusiastic, and encouraging. Both the Laboratory and the Billionaire’s Den lived up to the expectations set by Area 51 (though I’d still say that Area 51 was my favorite of the bunch). Each room had a lot of puzzles, and many were non-linear/non-sequential, which was perfect for our large group so that everyone could have something to do. Impressive technology/moving parts; very interactive. There is a bit of a surprise in the Lab room, so the faint of heart should...
