Long but please read if you have anytype of PIT breed!
The experience I've had with k9 pet resorts is not what I expected from the first time I called to set up an appointment to see the facility. When we toured the facility were we told alot of positive things. We actually really loved the tour and felt comfortable to leave my American bully. They reassured us brewster would be in great hands, especially how they do a complete evaluation first making sure he is comfy with everybody and other dogs. If not they, offer one on one play time, etc. Everything was postive, we were never told that they possibly couldnt handle any dogs or If your dog is uncomfortable they may have to send him away. Like i said everything was positive as if every dog they care for is in the best care. Only thing I was told was that he would need the 1st step influenza shot in order to stay as it is a mandatory requirement and you only need to have the 1st step and wait 10 days before he can enter the facility, we said ok and paid the deposit being satisfied with the tour. However, when we got the shot and notified the facility just to make sure they received his updated shot record, they then told us we would now need the 2nd shot administered also. Which is frustrating because they never mentioned that and now its a couple days before my trip making sure eveything is cool and its not. he needs another shot but we got him the 2nd shot just to make sure everything is ready to go for the resort and brewsters stay. The day for drop off comes and again, every staff is in his face saying how cute he is. He'll have the best time. All the staff started calling him "meatball" took him to the back and thats all we knew. We tried to call that night to see how he was settling in and we were told his first night was going great. Perfect! Next morning me and my fiance aboard our plane, taking off for 5 hours. Soon as we land for our 7 day vacation, we're getting blown up from K9 resorts saying they have to move him to a facility it north jersey(1 hrs 30min away) or a shelter. They cannot handle him, he is not eating or wont come out the room. ( now yes, my dog was uncomfortable ) however I do not feel like he should've been sent to another facility. If they thought my dog was traumatized by being there why would you send him another unfamiliar place to be traumatized more. Also we had to pay $500 for him to be transferred there. The staff felt the stress in voice as im across the country and literally just landed. They tried to answer as many questions as I could ask. My biggest issue is , if staff would have told us during the initial meeting with k9 " our staff is not trained to handle ALL dogs " I would've looked else where. Brewster is 3 and never been without family. He is also NOT aggressive. He can be intimidating to you but he is absolutely not an aggressive dog. He was uncomfortable but you have to be uncomfortable to get comfortable. He needed to see the staff care for him not be scared of him. ( however it was their choice nothing i could do at this point ) Anyways they shipped my dog off to north jersey to Greenleaf pet resort(5 stars!!) Which handle brewster with the BEST care. Called us everyday. Pictures. Greenleaf told us k9 calls them often when they cannot halde dogs, which again is something else they should have mentioned during the initial meeting but failed it. At least we would not have been blindsided getting off an airplane. Greenleaf also mentioned k9 was willing to pay for half of his transfer fee for the inconvenience, which would've been $250 but we never got a returned phone call from k9 so we just paid they whole fee ourselves and will never return. Idk it seem like a nice facility, clean facility for small cute dogs or older dogs but if you want somebody who will 1000% NOT ship your dog anywhere , do not...
Read moreThe one star is solely for the cleanliness of the facility and pleasant interactions I’ve had with staff. For starters - over the short time I utilized this doggy day care, if I even received a report at the end of the day, it was negative and it was usually “Theo went after another dog at 8:32am so he was put in time out” without further elaboration or context. Not against that but this behavior was definitely out of character for him - Theo was going to a daycare for a year and a half in Philly and we didn't have any issues. We also go to the dog park pretty much every weekend and spend time with other family/friends' dogs - haven’t had issues anywhere else either. I observed this being told to another owner during pick up, who had the same confused reaction when being told her dog “went after” another dog and saying this behavior was also out of character for them. It made me question the level of supervision they actually have at the daycare during the day, given that I had no context or further explanation to determine if there were actual behavioral issues occurring or if this was typical overstimulation and/or boundary setting behavior. During the week I went away, my boyfriend informed them that Theo may be a little off that week. That same week, my boyfriend was told Theo wasn’t allowed to continue at the daycare until he worked with their behaviorist to return back to daycare. An additional cost on top of the three remaining prepaid daycare days that I have yet to receive a refund for. I would certainly be open to having a behaviorist - if the issue was occurring in more than one environment. But it was only occurring here. And to put the cherry on top, out of all their picture posts on Facebook, Theo wasn’t in a single one. It sounds like a minor thing but it just added to the overall vibe that, for a place as expensive as it is, it just wasn’t the personalized experience I was looking for and it was beyond disappointing. And pompous. It seems like other reviewers have had better experiences (which was why I initially chose this daycare) so I just wanted to share what my personal experience was like. Theo has been going to Champs Dog House in Medford and (on the days I go in for work) he goes to the doggy daycare at Heart & Paw in Cherry Hill, haven’t had any issues in either place, there’s a ton of pictures of Theo having a blast, regular updates on funny things he did/friends he made, and most importantly, he definitely seems to be enjoying himself so much more! This place is not worth the money. There are plenty of other daycares that provide a more down to earth,...
Read moreThe experience I had with the hotel wasn't the best for the amount money I had to pay for my dog. Initially I was going to use it for only 2 nights ended up to use it for 4 nights. My 1st reservation I was quoted correctly when I added the 2 extra nights I was quoted 2 different prices by 2 different people. Once I arrive to the location they quickly the dog away again unknowing if what I paid for my dog received it. On there website they state they upload pictures of the dog upon calling the place they stated they only upload pictures to Facebook only. The four nights my dog stay not one picture was upload. Again if they would allow you or even offer to take a tour of location would a huge help for newly parents of a puppy that we are leaving there. During our vacation we called 3 times 1st lady who help just stated he fine nothing else afterwards. 2nd time we call again different lady stated the same and we ask for his pictures she stated they will upload them soon. 3rd time we called there was a gentleman who answered and answered us all the questions inform us why we don't see any pictures. Finally upon picking my dog up they stated they took him a bath in which they did since he was still wet they did not dry him up. They gave us a sheet what to expect after our dog get home. Everything they said it happened he got the k9 flu for a couple days in which it suck but it what was expected. My whole experience coming from the hotel industry suck with them I don't see the value what I paid for I could had took him to petsmart hotel paid alot less and still got the same experience. I'm disappointed they are highly rated but I don't see why they are when they don't give the best experience.
