A mall with mainly houseware businesses and a pretty large and varied food court on the second floor. I went to school at the Art Institute at the Holiday Inn Hotel building for about 5 years and I have to say that the most striking thing about this building originally was all the 1920's style art deco design in the interior. I absolutely loved it but about a year ago the building began remodeling the ceiling and everything else and updating the design and now, its just generic soulless, empty feeling modernness. Its like the building lost it's soul and its look and while I'm sure that the building owners had their reasons I'm sure the design could have been updated without losing what made it unique.

There is an incredible variety of vendors, from high end furniture and kitchen design to lighting and textiles, making it a one stop destination for anyone interested in interior design or architecture. The atmosphere is welcoming and professional, and the layout makes it easy to explore without feeling overwhelming. I also appreciated how organized everything was and how helpful the staff were when pointing me in the right direction. Whether you are a designer, a homeowner looking for inspiration, or simply someone who appreciates great architecture, The Mart is...

The building itself is full of home design stores in the first floor, food court on the second floor, and offices(?) on upper floors. There are some fun options to eat on the second floor, there's a salad place, sandwich place, soup place, McDs, pizza, etc, but my favorite was an Amazon go store. I have not encountered one of these before and even though there was a couple minutes of learning curve and a confusion of -really, I just walk out?- it was a cool experience. Though there's not much to buy besides snacks and cables. At night, the outside of the building does a beautiful projection show on the side facing the river. It's worth walking over to visit if you're...
