Going to preface this with the fact that I'm not a bar person. I come to these places for the food.
I work steps away and hadn't really tried this place until recently. What a mistake it was to wait that long. This place has, hands down, the best value lunch that you can get in the area. Sure it's all standard grill fare but it's done so exceedingly well for the price. The price. I can't get over how cheap is its comparatively. 8.25 for a 1/2lb cheeseburger with fries. Big patty cooked to order (I get mine medium and it comes out perfect every time) with a few standard toppings on the side. I literally ahve to prevent myself from eating here too often, gotta watch my cholesterol, but if that wasn't a factor I'd probably have this for lunch every day. Well, almost every day as I'd switch it up every so often for their ribeye steak sandwich. The "8oz" ribeye weight they list it as is deceptive. I swear it's actually bigger. Like it's a legit steak. You could discard the bread it comes on and just have a big grilled tender ribeye, also perfectly cooked to order with legit grill marks, not the paper thin and dry ribeyes that you get at most other cheap grill spots for their steak sandwich. Any other place in the city would be charging double for this steak, and it still comes with fries. That's basically a $16 steak frites. You won't find a better deal anywhere else.
Can't speak to the bar itself but I've had pleasant experiences every time I come to pick up food but the overall rating here speaks for itself. Long live...
Read moreVery terrible experience. As we walked in the person asked for ID, and had some attitude. I didn't think much of it as bouncers can appear that way sometimes. We got in and sat at the bar. I was feeling very dehydrated, so ordered us some water, and snacks. Our group was not very loud, and the bartender seemed very annoyed and said "what you aren't going to order any drinks?". My friend then ordered a drink and the bartender decided to kick us out, and wouldn't allow us to pay for the snacks and drink. He said "No you guys need to go". I asked why and he did not respond. We got up and left confused, and upset. I have never been kicked out from somewhere before. My friends and I are not the loud type, we go out maybe 3 times a year.
I can't think of any reason why we were kicked out other than racism. I did not see other groups of people who reassemble my friends and I. A reason atleast should of been given. No warning or anything was given, and there was no kindness or respect given to us either.
If you're reading this give them the boot like they gave us the boot. Very...
Read moreA Cozy Spot with Spirited Vibes” Stepping into Shamrock Club Chicago is like finding a hidden gem in the heart of the city. The drinks menu, while not extensive in fancy cocktails, offers delightful concoctions that hit the spot every time. Sure, the food might lean towards the ‘comfort’ side of the spectrum with a tad more oil than expected, but it’s the kind of fare that pairs well with a cold pint and good company. What truly stands out is the wallet-friendly menu that doesn’t skimp on quality. It’s a breath of fresh air in a city where dining out can often mean digging deep into your pockets. The environment?
