The towering Valley Oaks create a cathedral of cool shade along Big Chico Creek, and in the most impressive stand is where J. Bidwell chose to install a swimming pool, fed and drained by the creek! This space is utilized by all Chicoans, regardless of what rung of the socioeconomic ladder you may otherwise cling to. The homeless are there, but camps are not tolerated all over. A balance has been struck, and the few campsites you will see are tidy and temporary. Violence is not tolerated. Despite the heavy use, children are safe here and the litter, even. Is quite low. A success story of humanity, tolerance, and love of nature.

Even walking along the creek...
