Genkai Sushi Asian Cuisine & Bar — Restaurant in Chico

Some of the food was good, and I'm told it's not normally like this, but on a really quiet Thursday night our server was pretty inattentive, we had to get up to ask for things like silverware and napkins, then the ultimate ruiner for me was biting into a piece of tempura broccoli and finding it was rotten inside. Since we had ordered two dishes that had it, my girlfriend gave me hers to try, which also turned out to be only slightly less rotten.

It's hard to imagine that started out rotten and was battered anyway, which suggests they're storing food far too long after prep, which is also scary. The remainder of my night was spent nauseated by the taste of this rancid broccoli over and over again, which I couldn't seem to mask.

I don't think I'm willing to give them another shot...

I used to absolutely love this place, but I was there earlier this week and it was the worst experciece ever. It was a Monday night, there were only 2 people working, they were busy for a Monday, but not that busy. We waited 10 minutes before anyone even aknowledged we were there and waiting for a table. Once we sat down we ordered right away (we knew what we wanted) we then waited AN HOUR for 2 rolls to come out. I had ordered 2 rolls to go and it took them yet ANOTHER HOUR. there were other people that came in after us, and were served right away. The waiter clearly knew we were upset, but never apologized for the slow service, didn't offer a discount or anything. It will be a very long time before I go again... This...

I’ve been here multiple times with my fiancé, normally we love it, went in yesterday around 4:10 and the service was very slow. It had been a few months since we last came but the menus got updated and looked like prices went up. Food wasn’t as good this time as the previous times we had been. My fiancé got a mojito and it was missing the sweetness, it was very bland and I got a margarita which wasn’t terrible. The only thing I had that my fiancé didn’t was the Osaka roll, something in it gave me food poisoning less than 3 hours after we ate. Spent over $100 with tip and was very disappointed overall. I’ve never gotten food poisoning from sushi before but this has definitely ruined it for me for a while, not sure if...
