The 5th annual Butte County Museum Weekend is this weekend! During the event, explore special or new exhibits at each of the 16 participating museums, including: 💬 @chicohistorymuseum - Sit in on talks from David Nopel, who will present “Another Peek at Chico” at 11am and 2pm both days 🪦 @gridleymuseum - Learn about the Hamilton Township and Moore Cemetery 🦢 @moncamuseum - Have fun creating birds and their environment in drawing, collage, and toilet paper roll sculptures! 🚸 @chicochildrensmuseum - Kids will love a calm sensory hour from 9am-10am each day plus a fun super soft playdough being made for kids to play with and take home! 👗 Centerville-Colman Museum - Enjoy a Victorian dress demonstration at Noon on Sunday plus all-day exhibits on gold mining in the Canyon, past and present. ♻️ @chico_art_center - Get hands-on in the train car with @chicocreativereuse and have fun making tiny sculptures with upcycled material. Though they share many of the same influences, there are several distinctions between art created by Northern and Southern California artists. The Museum of Northern California Art’s collection features works from dozens of Northern California’s premier artists; they’re displayed in some distinct collections. The works include paintings, drawings, sculpture, and photography, most of which feature distinctly regional themes. The staff also hosts many special activities throughout the year, including guest speakers, art workshops, and festivals. The museum is located on Esplanade Drive in Chico and is usually only open four days per week.
