Okay, yes the fried chicken tacos are wonderful. Everything else massively disappointing. Why would you take a job as a server if you clearly take no pleasure in serving people and could give a flute about tips? Drinks were far too sweet to be called a cocktail and I still canât figure out what in the Oaxacan dead made it so sugary that the mezcal was undetectable. When the server finally checked on us my girlfriend had just taken a bite and was pointing at her still full drink while raising her napkin to her mouth because she needed to swallow before asking for the drink menu again and after 1 second the server said okay great and walked off. When we got her attention again and asked for a drink menu because we werenât expecting a mezcal drink to be so sweet she said well thatâs because itâs the cin city. We said thatâs not what we ordered and it doesnât taste like that and has a mint leaf garnish. She responded Iâll get a menu and walked off. She was obviously mistaken and had brought us the right drink, but not willing to discuss it. After that we just wanted to be done. She cleared the table leaving only the still full terrible drink and dropped off the check without saying anything more. Oddly the check showed a 3% credit card fee although she never asked how we were paying. Something weâve never seen before. Weâve both worked in multiple food and retail jobs and try to be good about tipping, almost always leaving at least 20%. With no discussion we instantly agreed on the amount to leave. Talking on the way to the car neither of us could ever remember leaving less than 15% tip. The fact that we both immediately felt that leaving no tip at all as the most appropriate amount says everything about how bad the service was. She was not openly rude or disrespectful, but yet she was incredibly rude and had absolutely no idea how to treat nice people with respect. She also had no clue what having a job where your pay is partially dependent on your performance means. This was not having an off day. This was someone who was too entitled to help other people enjoy their evening. In contrast the runner that brought our meals was very friendly and accommodating in the few brief interactions we had and smiled warmly as we passed her on our way out. I hope she doesnât have to work under that woman long because she deserves the servers job. The fact that she could smile genuinely and had manners makes her more qualified. Only thing worse than bad expensive cocktails is bad food and worse than that is bad service because it ruins the entire experience no matter how good...
Read moreI have been here twice, since my first experience was terrible and I tried to give it another chance but I guess this restaurant just isnât for me. Very expensive for âDecentâ quality food in Very small portions. They charged me $2 for 4 ounces of Coke.
First visit I was told it would take 20 minutes to be seated but 50 minutes later they told us that they forgot about us somehow and my (unfortunately) angry friend asked to be seated next. Then the manager came out and said âI heard you were yelling at my boyâ referring to my friend who yelled at the host. The manager was belligerent and I get that my friend was out of line, but that doesnât mean you as the manager should come to our table and try to start trouble. We ended up tipping the waitress because she had nothing to do with it and we felt bad, but then left.
Last night was ok, but unfortunately they messed up my food with crossing over a meat from another dish (pork) and then they gave us the wrong check. I tried to be courteous since the bill was 1/2 of what we got and I didn't want to pay less and bail, but in order to recharge my card they added a Fee, which just goes to show you no good deed goes unpunished.
Overall Iâve just had bad experiences but if it happens twice in a row I donât think itâs...
Read morePlace has a nice back patio with a bar, pretty cool hangout. Cocktail menu is nice. However, besides for the tasty french fries, we must have ordered the wrong things off of the menu. Chorizo con Queso is a beloved dish in Mexico - chunks of chorizo sausage with Oaxaca cheese melted on a clay dish that you eat with flour tortillas and hot sauce. You are not going to get that here. It's a cheese dip, with microscopic specks of chorizo and poblano chile, which impart no flavor to the the grainy textured dip. Then we ordered the Cubano. The cubano is a hearty Mexican torta with pork and ham, lettuce and tomato and onion, pickled jalapeños and a tiny bit of mayonnaise on a torta bread roll. This was a grease bomb of mayonnaise and maybe even butter, I don't know, but it made me want to gag. It had some pickles on it, but it was dying for pickled jalapeños. Really gross amount of mayonnaise with pork, and that's about it. Nasty. Just because people are drinking, doesn't mean they want to drink giant globs of tasteless fat in their food. Hopefully, the other stuff on the...
