The Banshee — Restaurant in Chico

my wife and I decided to give this place a try after seeing it on Diners Drive-Ins and Dives. As soon as we walked in we were surprised that it really didn't look anything like it did on the show. It was very dark and obviously it was a bar not a restaurant. I know they address this on the show but it looked more like a bar / restaurant instead of a bar that serves some food. there was no one there to greet us or tell us where we could sit so we decided to sit ourselves. We only found one open table and it was dirty. We asked one of the staff members to clean it and she kept telling us she would in a minute. She continuously walk back and forth next to our table however never stopped clean it. At this point I was going to clean it myself when a different staff member came over and cleaned it. there was no menus and they asked us to order before even letting us see what they serve. After asking for menus we placed our order. My wife had the fish tacos and I had the pulled pork sandwich. The food took quite a long time and I was quite surprised at the slow service. There were several tables around us that were also complaining about how bad the service was. Several of the guests at the other tables got up and went and found their own menus because the staff was not bringing the men you just as they did not bring us menus. Once they finally brought our food we advised them that we did not have napkins or forks and were told that they were in a bucket on the table. This bucket was empty and we had to find staff to go get us napkins and forks. The food was sufficient but nothing special. I was very surprised as I expected a more. My wife said the fish tacos were pretty good but nothing to write home about. My pulled pork sandwich had very little flavor and it was not spicy in anyway even though it's called The Spicy pulled pork sandwich. It tasted like something you would get from Applebee's. the service was the biggest issue though. Even after we were done eating we had to ask someone to get us a check because they would not come check on you at all. The guest next to us had the same problem finally just went to a manager complained about not getting a check and just gave them a debit card and said just to charge them so they can leave. So all in all I would say this is a bar not a restaurant and two go there with the expectations of going to a bar. The food is nothing special and you might as well just go to Applebees. The service is absolutely horrendous and be prepared to Serve Yourself. Very disappointing

I might have just got a bad night because there seemed to be an issue with the staff. The two female waitresses seem to be arguing with each other and one of them even went and complained to the male waitress who very loudly yelled at her that he did not care. They appear to have some...

We went to the banshee on 11/22 We were a party of 6 and of of the 6 party 3 ordered the PHO And the other three ordered normal menu items 32 minutes after the order was made three of the orders came in and those were non PHO orders we sat and waited and waited for our other three family members to get their food and it was about another 12 minutes before a waiter came and said oh I’m sorry your order was deleted and now we’re waiting to make a new batch and they will take about another 15 minutes to get your food so you’re telling me you bring out half of you or forget the other half and expect that to be acceptable because her excuse was we got busy as a consumer it’s not my problem that you got busy your establishment must maintain excellence with food preparation and food delivery to tables and then for a chef to come out 20 minutes after that after as our server overheard me comment that if she was a good waitress, she would tell her manager that there was a issue and he goes. Oh I’m sorry I take knowledge as this is my problem. I made the error , and they charge us full price for everything. They screwed up our table completely I didn’t go to this restaurant looking for a discount. I didn’t go to this restaurant, looking for inconvenience and only letting half of our party eat and then other half of the party eat 32 minutes after the fact, complete and utter crap , the disconnect between service to customer unacceptable I we all thought the food taste is great and amazing honestly though we will never go back to this place because the customer service the leadership the lack of empathy to feeding my family was unacceptable so I hope that you employees at this establishment can get your crap together and figure out how to manage your time when you’re slow when you’re busy, etc. your customer should never ever feel the imbalance of your time management or should I say lack of time management ...

Got parking right in front. Score! I was there with 3 friends and we were able to snag 2 tables side-by-side at 11:30 am. Each table serves 2. There wasn't a lot of seating in the area where we ate. I don't know if there is outside seating in the back.

I asked for iced tea. The server came back with a glass not quite 2/3 full. They were out and that was it. There wouldn't be more. Odd to be out of iced tea in Chico in the summer, but I guess the assumption was that most of the customers drink beer from what looks like a large assortment of brews. That's OK, what about coffee? No, we don't do coffee. Water it was for all of us.

I ordered the "Braised Brisket Pho-Rench Dip", as did one of my companions. Another ordered a Quesadilla. The food arrived fairly quickly and we were served by at least 3 different people to ensure that the food arrived at the same time for all of us. I appreciated that. The food was delicious, with half a sandwich to take home. Other menu items sound good for future visits. I'm told their Mac and Cheese is really good. The server could have been better. I had to think about it before I came to that conclusion. For example, at the end of our meal, I realized that all of our water glasses were empty. I don't recall being offered additional water. I can't remember for sure if our server checked on us during the meal, but I didn't leave with the feeling that our server had been attentive.
