I went to Tres Hombres for the first time to celebrate my birthday a few days ago, which was enough to convince me not to go back. The food and drinks were decent, and service seemed ok. That was, however, until the bill came...or didn’t. Because it was my birthday, our server brought me a free shot, which I did not ask for, but was appreciated. Well, when the time came to get our bill, our server said, “I hope you’re not in a hurry, I have to find a manager to comp your birthday shot”...except we had tickets to see a ballet later. Even after we told the server this he still went around taking other orders and ignoring us when we asked if ours bills were ready. It took our server 25 mins and all my friends and I literally waiting at the serving station to get our bills. Added to this was the fact that we had told the server ahead of time we’d need separate bills, yet we still had to verbally tell him individually while at the serving station what each of our orders was. The manager that comped my shot didn’t even bother saying anything to us as he walked to the computer. Seriously, if you’re going to make giving a birthday shot/dessert/whatever a headache for the customer, don’t bother. I’d rather not had the shot and not missed the first 15mins of the ballet instead.
