I have never in my life been treated with such blatant disrespect and hostility as I was at the AMC Theatres on Anderson Road. What should have been a simple and professional interaction turned into an appalling, gut-wrenching ordeal that left me absolutely stunned.
I walked in briefly to check on an application, expecting nothing more than a quick response. As I entered, I politely greeted an employee behind the counter—not once, but twice—only to be completely ignored. The sheer rudeness of that moment alone was unsettling, but I had no idea just how much worse things were about to get.
Before I could even get a word in, Dan, a cashier, aggressively shut me down. With an immediate attitude, he snapped that they were not hiring. His tone was sharp, passive-aggressive, and dripping with condescension. I was taken aback—why was he speaking to me like this over such a simple question?
Confused, I attempted to clarify, only to be met with outright hostility. Dan’s response was shocking and completely unnecessary. With a snide and belittling tone, he spat out, “What do you not understand?” The way he spoke to me was not only dismissive but demeaning, as if I were some kind of annoyance rather than a human being simply seeking information.
But it didn’t stop there. Dan proceeded to make several disturbing and disgusting comments, his attitude growing increasingly cruel. It was as if he took pleasure in belittling me, making me feel unwelcome, unimportant—like I was dirt beneath his feet. The smugness, the nastiness in his voice—it was beyond unprofessional. It was outright offensive.
I stood there in disbelief, my stomach twisting in knots. I was being treated with such blatant disrespect, and for what? For simply asking about an application?
Refusing to let this kind of behavior slide, I asked to speak with a manager, hoping for some level of professionalism and accountability. Enter Josh—a so-called manager who turned out to be just as dismissive and indifferent as Dan. Instead of addressing the issue and acknowledging how I had just been mistreated, his focus was elsewhere. He completely ignored my concerns and instead attempted to collect my name for the application process. At that point, after the appalling way I had just been treated, I was no longer interested. How could I possibly want to work at a place where this kind of behavior was tolerated—or even encouraged?
Dan, clearly satisfied with the damage he had done, eventually grabbed his cane and walked away. And the worst part? The general manager was standing there the entire time, watching it all unfold, yet never once stepping in. She stood there, silent and complicit, as if my concerns didn’t matter in the slightest.
For over ten agonizing minutes, I tried to get some sort of resolution, but it became clear that I was nothing more than an inconvenience to them. Josh eventually just started ignoring me entirely before walking away mid-conversation, leaving me standing there—shocked, humiliated, and completely appalled.
Four employees. Four people who had the opportunity to show basic human decency and instead treated me like garbage. This was my first time at this AMC location, and I can say with absolute certainty that it will be my last. No one—no one—deserves to be treated this way, especially over something as simple as checking on an application. The lack of professionalism, the utter disregard for respect and courtesy—it’s disgusting.
People need to know the kind of establishment this is. The way I was treated was not just bad customer service; it was inexcusable. And I will make sure that everyone hears about it.
Response to the phony reply *
The response to my review was unprofessional. No name was provided, and the email doesn’t work. Claiming this will be “addressed internally” instead of reaching out shows a lack of care. The GM was present and did nothing during the entire ordeal—her inaction is unacceptable.
This response is disappointing and doesn’t...

Read moreWent to see Thor last Saturday night about 9pm. The refreshment counter was nothing short of disgusting: popcorn, spilled beverages all over, including in front of the cash registers that had people working at them. All of the garbage cans were overflowing. The butter/condiment area was even worse. Mentioned it to a manager, who apologized and started cleaning. We went into our theater about 20 minutes before showtime, and the theater was dirtier than the refreshment counter. Ripped "leather," about an inch of disgusting liquid in the cup holder (see photo). OK... guess they hadn't gotten around to cleaning it yet. At 10 minutes before showtime, seeing nobody going in to the theater to clean, I called over the same manager as earlier, who radioed for someone to come clean. Seats in our row were broken (not ours, and we didn't check other rows), they are in terrible disrepair, and they clearly don't have enough staff to keep the place tidy (much less "sanitized," as advertised).
Full disclosure: The manager did give us passes to apologize, which was good, but the point is, we're all paying the highest prices ever for a night out at the movies, I'd like to not have a disgusting environment. This has been our movie theater of choice... I leave this review not only as a warning to fellow moviegoers (I certainly want the theater to stay open and will give them another chance), but as a sincere request for them...
