Very nice museum with local art from current local artists and history of the county, the prison, the fashion, and the inventions local to the area — but the most interesting thing is the Case Laboratory Tour! The guided tour walks you through the actual laboratory where the sound-on-film system that became Movietone was invented and refined by Theodore Case and E.I. Sponable before partnering with William Fox and Fox Films. Highly recommend buying tickets for the guided tour ahead of your visit.

I thought that this was a well-rounded museum, showcasing a lot of history and culture of the area. It was great to learn about 100 years of sound film, the struggles from start to finish in bringing it to life. Staff was very friendly and our tour guide was very thorough.

A piece of local history that is unfortunately a little more than an exhibit space. Although certainly worth checking out, the entrance fee was high for a rather limited exhibit.

I went on the tour here with my wife, two friends, and their children. It was excellent, the guide gave an intelligent overview, answered questions (including a doozy about the composition the Case Lightbulb's filament), involved the children and all of us with hands on activities, and, best of all, allowed my nerdy self to move close enough to see the title of the books on Case's bookshelf in the workshop. I am an amateur scholar as well as a school teacher and I deeply appreciated the opportunity. The museum in the Case Mansion itself is fun, beautiful, and reasonably interactive-high praise for a history museum. The lady working at the mansion welcome desk was extremely friendly. Only love and a passion for the subject matter could make such a...

This museum was great! You can tell that the staff really cares about the history and making this museum a popular destination. The curator that have us a tour of the Case laboratory was charming and enthusiastic, you can tell he loves educating people and conveying the rich history of Auburn. A few of the rooms were a little eclectic at the moment, the planned exhibit had to be changed due to COVID restrictions, it was supposed to be very hands on. This is a must see if you're a history buff! Do not miss the guided tour of the Case laboratory or the second floor discussing the prison. They stayed open late for us to look at the second floor - the staff was amazing and did not...

There are so many interesting things to see at the Cayuga Museum and Case Research Lab. It's the site where sound on film was invented -- literally a world-changing invention. It's the former home of a prominent doctor and philanthropist, whose family is responsible for the Auburn Theological Seminary and the Willard Chapel. It's home to the state's oldest Ginkgo tree. The permanent exhibit about the Auburn prison boasts many interesting artifacts. And the Carriage House Theater boasts wonderful performances from regional artists. I highly recommend a visit, and please consider...
