UPDATE 12/19/15 : Yesterday, I gave Found a one star rating after an unfortunate experience I had with the sale of an item. In the interest of transparency, I have kept it below so that others can get an idea at the kind of place Found is, and know that they can come here and be treated fairly and honestly.
As you can see from below, I was quite upset upon discovering the item I was sold was an imitation. Out of anger, I hastily wrote this review with the expectation that I got swindled and that was that. My wife convinced me to go down there and confront the staff about my experience. Here's what happened:
I brought in the item and explained the situation, and within 20 minutes, the two friendly ladies at the counter refunded my money, and were incredibly apologetic. It's worth nothing that this is something that they are under no obligation to do. They have a sign which clearly states that all sales are final, and even if this were not the case, they are not legally required to be knowledgable about every item in their shop. They could have just as easily told me that they didn't know the item was fake and that would be that. Instead, they did the honest thing and refunded our money.
It's incredibly rare nowadays to find this kind of honesty in business. Found is undoubtedly an exception. It's incredibly refreshing, and I hope Found stays in business for years to come.
[Previous review, included for context] 12/18/15 Horrible. Do not go here. Was sold a "WWII Compass" for $30, only to find out that it's a cheap knock off worth less than $5. Do not do give these people your business. This was supposed to be a Christmas gift. I work hard for a living and do not appreciate being...
Read moreUnfortunately my experience was less than stellar. I attempted to sell some items (jewelry, silver plated flatware, etc) and was greeted by a frosty reception. The woman behind the counter told me to leave the items with a phone number and they would call me. I politely declined the offer, as I had some time to kill. She said âFine. Weâre less likely to buy this way but if you insistâŚ.â Giving my items a cursory glance she asked if I had already been to a jeweler. I confirmed that I had. She then threw up her hands and said âOh then I donât want ANY of this, and I DONâT appreciate being the âbottom of the dredgesââ after which our interaction was cut short. I am no stranger to customer service, being that Iâve worked in the industry for well over 10 years. A simple ânot interestedâ or a polite brush off wouldâve been well received. My upset has nothing to do with my items not being purchased and EVERYTHING to do with the attitude of the woman who spoke to me in such a dismissive manner.
Unfortunately the whole experience left a foul taste in my mouth and I will not be returning to buy. God forbid I attempt to sell again. My concluding thought is that Found in Ithaca might want to consider getting lost because the disrespect was neither appropriate nor...
Read moreI have visited Found several times. I really enjoyed it. Located two hours from home, it was a trip I didnât mind making to look around. After today, I will not be back. I found two small items (salt and pepper shakers) at one of the booths. Neither was labeled with a price. At the register, I was ignored. The woman working the register said itâs not important and she would get to it later. As a paying customer who has spent at least $200 there in the past few months, I would think that a phone call to the seller for price would not be an issue. Another woman who was working, offered to call. She was told not too. I waited for about 5 minutes, while listening to the woman working at the register complain. Yes it was busy. Yes it is unfortunate that items werenât labeled. However, the remarks I heard were totally unnecessary. A smarter business plan would be to ask the customer if they wouldnât mind dropping in later to pick up the items after a call could be placed to the seller. ...
