Firehouse Subs Ithaca — Restaurant in City of Ithaca

Stopped in today for my first time. We were greeted by a very uncomfortable yet kind gentleman working behind the counter. This guy provided fantastic customer service although it did seem too much at times. We genuinely thought he was doing a voice and being goofy until we realized this was real and perhaps a personality trait. I ordered the turkey bacon sub and it was absolutely delicious. By far one of the best subs I've ever had. I want to provide this place 5 stars all around but there were some off things about our experience. My friend and I were both asked about pickles when placing our orders yet never received them. I don't understand asking us and then not giving them to us with our food!? The over the top, in-your-face customer service was a detractor for me too. I also disliked being asked multiple times about donating. Mention it once and drop it. I got a large turkey sub, and sadly I couldn't eat it. The whole thing fell apart when I picked it up and all the meat and fixings slid out. Roll was soggy with mayo. I tried to eat it as soon as I got to my truck and everything ended up on my shirt, pants, seat, steering wheel and floor. My boyfriend got a brisket sub and ordered pickles on it but got cukes instead. I was going to go back in and ask for something different but none of the customers were wearing masks and I didn't think it was worth it. 2 subs was $24, and only one of them could be eaten. Super sad and disappointed because I had heard good reviews and like that they donate to fire companies. It's probably not a problem with the chain, but I was so disappointed and hungry, and then sad, that I just won't waste $12 on food too soggy to stay together long enough for me to even try it.
