Although I can't speak for every location, the Best Buy in Mt Vernon is a disgrace. On one visit I was harassed by a an older worker with gray hair and followed around the store the entire time I was there, they must have thought I was going to shoplift just off of my appearance; after purchasing a Star Wars DVD collection my bag was searched and my receipt was read out loud by security: no other customer was searched. On a second visit I was disheartened because I was looking for a DVD that was not on the shelf and when I asked the first associate for help she did not make eye contact and nastily said that it wasn't her department. I asked a second associate and he checked his computer and although I told him I could not find the dvd on the shelf, he assured me that there were 17 copies and that I had to look harder because "the system says they are there". I searched every inch of the dvd section, the time spent in store was over an hour. Finally after extreme frustration I spoke with a manager and he checked his computer, saying that the 17 copies where in the back and could not be sold yet. He did not offer an alternate solution or show any sympathy for my frustration, just told me to come back next week. I found out later that I could have preordered it right while I was there and reserved a copy. The employees in that store are not knowledgeable and disgustingly rude. After seeing how management handled a customer service situation it is clear that it is not the employees fault but a severe lack of leadership, mentoring, and training. I am a film fanatic and have hundreds of movies, I've always appreciated best buy's extensive collection for sale, but I assure you that I will never return to that location and will inform every friend and family member to avoid that store...
Read moreI usually love this best buy but they really messed my mom over. So new years, she wanted to buy an s3 frontier watch, so she went to the Fordham road one and lol as usual they didn't have it. But they told us mount Vernon had it. So we paid 326 dollars in the Fordham store and they guaranteed us that be cause we paid for it, we can just go and pick it up. So when we get to the best buy in mount vernon, they dont have the watch. Instead they try over and over again to convince us to take an open box watch. Its disgusting. They really thought we wouldn't know the difference. The sales associates weren't bad at all but the manager was unhelpful, unapologetic, and didn't seem to care that we actually made the purchase. We had to end up driving to the city to eventually get the watch. Anyway, I called corporate, left a long complaint, and I'm going to be following up on this. Because what kind of evil managers think it's a good idea to push used products on a customer that purchased it in full price.
Buyer beware, because who knows if the product you've purchased is brand new or not. Or at least for your sake dont go to the best buys in the bronx or mount Vernon or Yonkers, because you have no idea if they are selling you used products or not.
Also if you guys skip over the reviews obviously done by robots or relatives of the employees, you'll see that more people complained about the open box problem. They are literally out to...
Read moreI recently visited the Best Buy in Mt. Vernon, NY (10550), and I was thoroughly impressed! The store is huge, clean, and exceptionally well-organized, making it easy to navigate through different sections—whether you're shopping for electronics, appliances, or entertainment. The layout is intuitive, and products are neatly displayed, so you can quickly find what you need without feeling overwhelmed.
What truly stood out was the customer service. The employees were friendly, knowledgeable, and eager to help—no pushy sales tactics, just genuine assistance. I had a few questions about a laptop, and the staff member not only explained the specs clearly but also compared different models to help me make the best choice. The checkout process was lightning-fast, and the self-service kiosks were a convenient option for quick purchases.
Another highlight? The parking lot! Located on the top level, it’s surrounded by stunning cherry blossom trees, making the shopping experience even more pleasant. It’s rare to find a retail store where even the parking area feels inviting!
