Shamrock Charterboat Inc. — Attraction in City of New Rochelle

I was a little hesitant because of some of the bad reviews but I booked it because it was cheaper than many others ($44 adults and $26 for children 11 and under). It turns out that this charter was amazing! I’m soooo glad I booked it. Pat the captain was pleasant and let my 3 kids (4, 5, 11) take turns driving the boat at the end of the night. He also kept coming around the boat and checking to see how everyone was doing. He was so nice to my kids. There were 2 other helpers on the boat who were also great. Tom and Susan took time to explain how to fish and put bait on the hooks. My oldest was grossed out by the clam bait so Susan would put it on for her. Susan and Tom both went around to make sure the fishing line was at the bottom of the water, untangle lines, and to help reel up fish. Two people caught baby sharks and they would immediately go to the young kids on the boat and show them the sharks and encouraged us to take pics. They threw the sharks back in the water and any other fish that was tiny. So overall, Pat, Susan, and Tom were phenomenal. Now on to the fishing... My kids and husband caught fish, but I did not. I’m not too heartbroken by it because I just really wanted my kids to have the experience of fishing and they did so that was good enough for me. Pat moved to several spots using his boat radar to ensure people caught fish. You could also buy live worms for $6 a pound (I think). They provided buckets to put fish that people caught and at the end of the night they descaled the fish and cut the heads off if you wanted them to. Assumptions that me and my party were underage is absolutely wrong! If that is how you operate your business by assuming is completely idiotic and should not be in business. Thank you.

Got recommendation from a very awesome SWEET person and at first captain PAT worked with me. I know little last minute and for a big party to attend as well. We connected Wednesday and said it was a go and told him that I’ll confirm more details later in the day. I text him and call no answer. Something in my heart told me to call him Thursday 7/2/20 and he was the rudest ever no CUSTOMER SERVICE skills at all which I don’t understand because the day prior he was totally different. BOTTON LINE if your going to cx the reservation please freaking let the party know and with no valuable excuse and not even an APOLOGY ABOUT IT. Unprofessional! This is not the first time that this the Shamrock was unprofessional. Last year I tried to charter the Shamrock for a corporate fishing trip with several problems.

This year I tried several times to contact Captain Pat, whether it be email, text or a call, I had no response. Finally and with frustration, I made one last attempt for a Corporate fishing trip, to my surprise he answered the phone, his answer was I will call you back in an hour when I get home to make the arrangements. I did not receive a return call.

He originally did not ask for a deposit but decided later on that he wanted one. I sent him a deposit on his demand and a week later he told me that he chartered his vessel to another group. I will never use The Shamrock for...
