Ok where to begin. After hearing alot of nice things from friends about it. My fiance and I decided to try it for my birthday on August 27th. We had a late dinner and upon parking we were impressed by the size and beautiful building. Upon entering we were offered to sit inside or outside. We chose inside and that was strike 1. As we were seated there was a huge flat screen tv over what looked to be a stage for bands. As we sat looking at the menu we couldn't hear each other talk not the game because of the extremely loud music playing. As I looked around at the bar the people also had to lean in to hear themselves. There were maybe 5 tables outside occupied. We were seated in front of 2 large black bay doors that reminded me of the firehouse I belonged to. The waiter had to either shout out specials or wait til the song ended. Not sorry but when the help have to do this there's a problem. As I continued to look around I saw this HUGE stereo system that looked like it was made for a club than a restaurant. Strike 2. Our entrees came with a house salad which sounded good at the time til it was delivered to see it was topped with feta cheese and pickled onions at the top. Now that was a first, especially when asked about the salad and told it was a normal house salad. Needless to say they were returned as the feta and pickled juice was reaching the bottom. My entree was the combo platter which actually wasn't so bad despite the fish being overcooked. My fiance had the fried shrimp and that was overcooked. By this point we had had enough of the loud music and seeing the other crew members debate about who was cleaning what table or sweeping up. We asked for the check. As we waited I couldn't help but take a walk outside cause I saw the couple's laughing and seemingly enjoy themselves. Yes as expected there was no loud music and what was blasting inside wasn't more than a car radio playing to the outside. I could MAYBE understand if this happens at happy hour or on Friday/Saturday To attract the younger crowd. However on a Sunday night at 9:30pm and not so busy was extremely difficult to handle. Look if you want a restaurant and bands playing that's cool. Announce it to those walking in for a nice dinner for them to decide. If you want to be Belmar's version of Bamboo in Seaside then don't offer a luxurious looking restaurant with a pricey menu. Extremely disappointed and will...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI am an ex employee, and the staff there at the time (back in 2015-16) were really terrible people. They would abuse power and horde tips that were supposed to be shared with other workers which made me feel taken advantage of. The bartender always gave me an attitude when I didnāt get his ice buckets fast enough (had to go to the basement and fill 2 large barrels with a tiny scooper) and I made sure to go as fast as I could. The waitresses made you feel like you werenāt a valued worker and they deserve all the credit for being veteran workers. The type of people that smile and whisper and look at you out of the corner of their eye while youāre cleaning a table by yourself. Besides all the employee issues, I generally canāt tell you how the food is because they donāt feed employees for free like everywhere else Iāve ever worked in food businesses (literally everywhere) except for a free drink at the end of the night, and when asking the bartender to add a splash of jack D honey in my coke he said thatās much too expensive for a free drink and offered me a beer. The chef was a total drill sergeant with the worst attitude Iāve ever seen. Everyone feared him for some reason. Honestly the only half way cool one was the manager. It was a dreadful bunch of humans to be around. The ambiance is fantastic however, I loved the views and the overall feeling of the place, thus... the lone one star. Stole a chicken finger from a left over platter once and it was actually decent. Still one star āļø sorry marina grille. Treat...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIts right on the water. We sat down they asked us for drinks, we got our drinks and bread, which I feel was stale. We ordered our food, then waited for almost 15 minutes, no one returned to ask anything or refill. My first impression at this point is I will not return.
Then the food came. The salmon was cooked perfectly. The string beans were cooked just right and the potatoes were awesome, though why only 3 pieces I don't know. My wife had the pasta with sausage and shrimp. It was delicious.
Throughout the meal, our waiter didn't visit us even once, not to ask if we needed anything or to see if everything was ok.
The cheesecake was really, really good
In short. I probably will not be back. My advice to the staff is to pay attention to the customer. Getting the order and serving the food isnt it. Stopping by. Checking in with your customers is what gets them...
