Peppermint, where the customer is always WRONG! I purchased a dress for my daughter for her sister's bridal shower. The dress needed alterations and to my surprise were offered for free. Fast forward a week- my daughter goes to the store and picks up the dress. She gives me a call letting me know that she has picked up the dress but questions the way the alterations were done. Honestly, I have never seen such a poor (I won't subject all of you to the word I used) job-I thought I was seeing things. I called the store, was hung up on-apparently the owner who acts like a petulant teen didn't like my review of her work. I proceeded to go to the store. No refund, only store credit! This owner wants to give me store credit for a dress she ruined? It's like she couldn't admit the job sucked. Had she told me she would do a crappy job, I would have passed on her offer and brought it to a real seamstress. It looks like a 5th grade Home Economics project. The shoulders are not lined up and the "taco" seam? (owner's term) in the back of the dress, is basically just darts. Unable to get a refund-remember, the customer is wrong-I brought the dress to the tailor shop. The owner of the shop said "what is this?" Peppermint lost a customer, and a really good one, because I would have shopped there more often. I'll continue to shop online-that way I don't have to feel like I'm...
Read moreI love Peppermint. I have shopped here since they were at the Park Ave location, and I’ve yet to be disappointed. Yes, some of the items are fairly pricey, but it’s so worth the price because you know you’re getting a quality piece of clothing all while supporting a small locally owned business. The jewelry is so wonderful, too. They have these delicate chains with cute hand crafted charms, all the way up to big chunky statement pieces. There’s something for everyone here, and they’re always getting in new items so if you don’t see something you love, come back in a week or two and there will be something new. I’m also obsessed with the unicorn necklaces, the dinosaurs necklaces, and, of course, the pizza necklaces. The chains with these are so delicate and dainty, and yet they hold up so well while wearing them. The owner also helps people personally by picking clothing items she thinks will compliment a person’s body type and style. She’s very hands on and will often try to pair jewelry with dresses or outfits. Not because she’s trying it up sell you, but because she truly wants others to walk out of the store with great, matching outfits for any occasion. She also offers FREE alteration services, and she’ll bend over backwards to make sure you’re completely happy with your purchase. I can’t say enough good things about this place. You won’t be...
Read moreI usually avoid writing negative reviews or speaking ill of businesses or people, but I feel compelled to share my experience at Peppermint while attempting to get permanent jewelry. Visiting from out of state, I planned a fun afternoon of shopping with my friend and had always wanted to try permanent jewelry, so I decided on a whim to get an anklet at Peppermint. The process should have been a red flag when the woman struggled to get the bracelet on my ankle, and it even came off while we were still shopping. We tried again, and she assured me there would be no issues, but shortly after on our way to dinner, I found it had fallen off. I called to request a refund, as the service clearly didn't work, but was told they couldn't refund me, leaving me out $50. I returned the day before leaving New York to get it reattached, but was told the chain I chose wasn't suitable for an anklet--something they should have mentioned initially. I picked a new chain, but it only lasted about two weeks before it fell off again. Overall, I'm disappointed that what was supposed to be a fun, spontaneous purchase turned into a frustrating headache. To not offer a refund on a service that wasn't successful is really poor business. While the store is very cute, I wouldn't recommend getting permanent...
