We recently explored the Onondaga Creek Walk. After a recent snowstorm we were highly impressed that the entire creek Walk was shoveled very well. It was a nice walk (not very long) from the parking area. We saw a beautiful merganser duck couple in a little private pool of melted water on the frozen creek. They were more than willing to accommodate posing gor up close photos. Their coloring was beautiful. It was the first time we had ever seen a Merganser. We also got cool photos of eagles flying overhead to get to the melted portions of the creek for fishing. Read moreA neat little walk that goes through some of the greenest space in Downtown Syracuse. Educational plaques dot the trail and inform trail users of Syracuse's rich industrial and railroad history. Many artifacts of 19th century life remain, such as a limestone wall from an old rail platform, as well as rail bridges which have been repurposed as foot bridges. The Inner Harbor is an excellent birdwatching destination, Bald Eagles and Osprey are known to fish in the waters. A mulberry tree on the trail is a favorite spot for catbirds.
