If you're not familiar with the strong history of the Uptown Theatre, or don't have personal memories made there, or an instant feeling of nostalgia when it's mentioned it's likely you didn't grow up in Utica. And that's okay because the legacy and spirit of the Uptown are stronger than ever in my opinion.

Even while under construction and renovation, the front of the theatre is open to host a wide variety of events. I've see full length theatre productions, live comedy, bands, and attended fundraisers, all within the last year (around the pandemic).

I highly encourage everyone to support this wonderful gem in Utica history that now has fresh blood and new life at the helm. Stop into an open mic as an audience member or performer, if you see a ticketed event, buy a ticket and enjoy the live entertainment, if you have interest in improv or comedy get involved with the friendly and welcoming community of comedians.

I've shared photos from our most recent...

We came out last night to start off Pride in Utica right! David Butler (a local queer artist) presented a reading of his book, One Oar Too Many; a phenomenal contribution to LGBTQ literature and a reading that kept us all engaged and in rapture. Followed up by a magical drag performance (our first)! Which absolutely needs to be at LEAST a monthly occurrence! It was incredibly fun, with vendors and a raffle. The Uptown is an institution in Utica, and they're doing amazing things. Our 8yo attends the kids' improv workshop as well, and they love it more than we could have anticipated! Donate to, participate with, and boost the...

I had a distinct pleasure of visiting the Uptown in October 2024 for the Uptown Improv Fest and it was an absolute delight! Devin and Bri, who run the theatre, and their entire staff and community were so incredibly welcoming and thoughtful. They made our experience and our time at the theatre and in Utica unforgettable! They are also making huge strides in restoring this historic landmark. The renovations are looking really great and this is now a stunning and wonderful place to perform, take classes and see shows. Cannot...
