I have always been supportive of the Clark library since I was a kid and have been going for over 20 years as a resident of Clark. I have gone to the library for years to read, take out books/movies/CDs, tutoring, and studying from middle school up till grad school AS A LIBRARY CARD HOLDER. I decided one day to go to the library as I do to study. There was limited space this day and no private areas to study as the tables were occupied. I found a private study room that was UNLOCKED with instructions of the room in regards to keeping it clean and occupancy. Nowhere did the instructions state that the rooms had to be reserved. This would have been fine had I known about needing to reserve the rooms or if I was not approached in such a distasteful manner. I would have proceeded with standard policy. However after an hour and a half of using the room, a rude employee confronted me in the room saying I was not allowed to be there because I need to reserve the rooms and asked "well do you even have a library card?" I was confused as no where on the instructions in the study room and door of study room did it state this and the DOOR WAS UNLOCKED when I had entered. I was really taken back by how I was approached feeling uncomfortable and unwelcomed in a library where I HAVE A LIBRARY CARD AND AM A TAX PAYER OF OVER 20 YEARS. All of my experiences have been good up to this point beside the rude employee/librarian who deterred my studying experience. If this is standard policy, rules should be posted on the private study rooms AND LOCKED to prevent people who are unaware of this policy from being shamed. So as one would, I left the library and went to the Westfield Public Library to continue studying. When asked if i needed help at the Westfield library upon check-in, I stated I did not have a library card but the librarian reiterated it was okay and that I had the right to utilize the library space. I felt a lot more welcomed in a library that I do not even belong to compared to my town library that I have been going to for over 20 years as a resident where I was questioned "Do you even have a library card?" I try my best to support local businesses such as the library in a day and age where most things are all online but now feel deterred from this experience. Extremely dissapointed with this experience and think Clark Public Library should learn some lessons on customer service skills like those at Westfield...
Read moreThe Wi-Fi signal in this library is very weak, making it almost impossible to use continuously, especially on the second floor. If you need to look up information, you'll have to use the library's own computers or ask the staff for help. Additionally, the seating is quite limited, likely due to the smaller number of visitors. There is also a dedicated children's corner, making it a suitable place to bring kids. Overall, the experience is...
Read moreI am very pleased with the friendliness and service of the staff, and the resources provided. Their video borrowing policy lets you hold on to new video rentals for three days, and they have a growing collection of blu-ray DVDs. You may have to be patient if you want to borrow new "hot" DVD titles, as multiple copies are usually not purchased, but that's fine by me. There's always other interesting older titles to...
