It’s incredible how many times I posted this review on Yelp just to have it taken down because it mentioned how racist this place and the owners are… but I hope Google keeps it real with the people. The owner flagged my reviews vs reaching out and trying to resolve the issue like I know most restaurant owners do in this time, especially when regarding race, food quality, and other extreme nonsense. Period point blank - Extremely racist, which we should have expected considering it's in Clark. I had visited a couple of times so I overlooked that based off of the how we were treated previously by the same waiter. I came here recently (pregnant, hungry) and was offered the bar area due to how busy it was -- when we immediately turned it down, we were asked to leave. We returned about an hour later (there's a target across the street) we were placed in a room where a large party of other black folks were celebrating a birthday -- very loudly, if you catch my drift. Like, banging on the tables and singing “happy birthday” as loud as possible. We were so annoyed. They had been there all day, drinking, and we could barely hear each other. But for some reason, two different waitresses insisted on seating us there. To avoid issues, we just went along with it, regretfully. We were overlooked, forgotten, and my burger was served with no bun....I almost couldn't believe it. No bun? Who and where do they do that? I couldn’t even snap a picture of the food because my mouth was ajar. Was she testing me? She apologized and returned with my burger and bun…. but I was so uncomfortable I couldn’t eat it. We will never ever be back. Ever. We got placed in the corner of the "ghetto room" when there were countless of other tables available AWAY from that mess, forgotten about to the point where we had to order twice.. and just overall treated like trash. Do not recommend if you are a person of color or integrity. Of course they'll try to deny this but who has the time to make up such a mess? Who wants to be seen as racist in 2024? There are...
Read moreWe have been here many times, and it is one of our favorite local spots. After a visit over the weekend, I thought it might be time to write a review. This time, I had the tempura shrimp tacos, and they were truly excellent. The shrimp was the perfect texture, batter was perfect, and the lemon aioli on the slaw was perfect. I’ve had the fish tacos a few times (another favorite) and decided to try something related but a little different. This place also has some really interesting things—I’ve eaten stuffed acorn squash and stuffed butternut squash here. A whole squash on your plate stuffed with stuff--so unique and really so delicious. I’ve had a few of their pastas and ravioli dishes too. I’ve tried a few salads. Mostly everything I have tried has been excellent, and everything has been at least good. It’s also hard to resist getting the truffle fries as an appetizer. My husband often gets the bacon-eater (burger) and it’s definitely one of his favorite things. Not to mention, they have an excellent beer selection. Also, this place does have a fancy feel, but we have brought our young children and never feel out of place or like it’s too “nice” for kids. Noise level is good for children—you can hear the people at your table, but there’s enough noise that your kids probably won’t disturb anyone. I will say, when this place first opened up, I loved the atmosphere and beer selection but felt like food was good, but not special, and service might have been a little lacking. My opinion is different now. Lately, everything I’ve eaten has been great, and service has been good. Menu is bigger than it used to be too. So if you were here long ago and weren’t sure how you felt, you may want to try again. Only suggestion--I think it would be fun if they put suggested beer pairings for entrees...
Read moreParagon tap and table was a bit of a disappointment for me. It has good happy hour specials and a good beer selection but otherwise our experience was average. Honestly I'm surprised by the great views and the press they've received. Service was below average, the one guy manning the bar area was swamped and all over the place. At one point he came over to get our food order, walked away mid sentence to check on some food coming out, and then didn't return until we finished our appetizer to actually take our food order.
We started with the wings, we had them sevendust or voodoo and beer glazed. The wings were a good size and well cooked. The beer glaze were sweet but I wouldn't have been able to tell that they had beer in them, the other ones were like a salty teriyaki and I didn't really enjoy it after the first bite. For my main I got the short rib sandwich. I thought they just didn't include all the ingredients on the menu but it's literally meat, onion rings, bread. It really could have used something else there, some sort of creamy sauce would have gone a long way. Not to say the sandwich wasn't good but it could have been so much better, the meat was really tender and pretty tasty. My girlfriend got the tuscan stack which she enjoyed. It was quite a bit of food with 2 pieces of chicken on it. Both of our entrees came with fries which were terrible, perhaps some of the worst fries I've ever had. They were tough and stale, they went into the garbage when we got home. We both finished about half of our sandwiches and took the leftovers home, the portion size was fairly large. We split a peanut butter brownie for dessert, it was decent but obviously fresh out of a sysco box.
In summation it's a good spot for cheap happy hour beers and wings but in our experience...
