If you love the smell of a well-kept garage simply walking into this museum will put an instant smile on your face.
This small auto museum is a real treat for any auto enthusiast. There are more cars than I expected and lots of information on them. On a lazy Tuesday afternoon in December we were the only people in the museum except for the gentleman on the showroom floor. He was friendly and ready to be helpful should we have had any questions about anything. The entire business had a relaxed and low-key feel, very hometown. Just what you'd expect in Clarkesville.
There were cars here representing every era and decade of the automotive industry. Some well traveled but loved and cared for, some in unbelievable, pristine condition. Despite ' Please Do Not Touch' signs posted everywhere, there were fingerprints on every car that was accessible. And it's easy to understand if not condone; you Want to touch them. Many of these cars speak to you if you care enough to listen. If you are a car guy or gal I can promise you something in this space will move you.
Behind the glass of dozens and dozens of display cases, the hundreds of car models were super neat but it was the toy cars of the 80s and 90s that really got my attention and had me feeling nostalgic. While the cars made me croon, the toys made me laugh.
My husband enjoyed it thoroughly but did express the opinion that $10 per entry was a little much. I however, enjoyed my time here very much and felt it was worth every bit of the entrance fee.
Dear MTTA, I am quite sure that you do not need any help, but please let me know if you'd ever want someone to lovingly wipe off prints from this absolutely stunning collection of...
Read moreThis is a fantastic little whole-in-the-wall museum that we had never heard of but certainly deserves to be more well known. They have vehicles from the earliest of years to nearly today. We were expecting a small little walk-through museum, and instead we were delighted with how large it was and spent 2 hours enjoying this place! And it was reasonably priced too!
We had a very knowledgeable tour guide to begin our time there. He provided a quick walk through of the vehicles complete with historical facts, fun movie trivia (for those cars that had been in movies), and even allowed the kids to sit in a couple of the cars that are owned by the museum or museum owner. Most of the vehicles are on loan, and this allows for variations to the floor so you can revisit and see some new ones. Some of our favorites this visit were Carroll Shelby's personal Shelby GTO 500 and Ed Bolion's Cannonball cars.
Not only was this an awesome car museum, but it also features a large fleamarket-esque gift shop and sales floor. We also enjoyed doing a little shopping as there were tons of good deals on different odds and ends. I wish we had known ahead of time in order to plan to spend more. Hahaha!
Our whole experience was wonderful from start to finish. The staff was incredibly kind and friendly, and the vast array of vehicles was phenomenal. We are so glad we found this place on accident because we will definitely return next time we are...
Read moreThis museum offers a fascinating look at automotive history, from the early days to the present. It features a range of American classics, including Ford and Buick, as well as a select few modern imports like BMW, Honda, Nissan, Porsche, and even a Suzuki mini kei van. The store is a bit of a maze with thousands of items, organized but still a bit overwhelming—kind of like an elaborate garage sale! I’d love to see them convert more of the retail space into museum space, especially as their collection grows. While the museum itself didn’t seem adequately air-conditioned, there were several fans in each room to help with the heat. The retail space was however air conditioned and was nice once we...
