My husband and I were trilled to learned about the Clemson Area African American Museum (CAAAM) from a friend of ours. We were not aware of an African American museum in the area. We immediately drove from Elberton, Georgia to Clemson, South Carolina to visit the museum. We are on the board of directors of the Jim-Ree African American Museum in Elberton, Georgia and enjoy visiting other museums to see how they run and function. The staff at CAAAM is composed of volunteers who take turns, acting as docents to keep the museum open to the public. The volunteers are also responsible for rotating and changing the displays. Lots of parking, grounds and the building looks well taken care of from the outside. They do have a free small library in the front. Easy to locate with your GPS. Lots of AAM History in the Clemson area and the College.
Dont forget about the free 29 acre SC Botanical Gardens! Nest time I visit the area, I will be wandering to the down town...
