This was my first visit and I was more than pleased with my initial experience!!! The menu is a perfect balance of Americanized favorites and traditional Mexican cuisine. Our group had tacos 2 ways: American shrimp tacos (5 stars) and traditional Mexican Al Pastor tacos (5 stars). The Mexican tacos are 3 for $6.99 and the meat choices include chicken, carnita (roasted, shredded pork), asada (marinaded steak), and La Lengua (beef tongue). They are your typical white onions, cilantro, & lime wedges tacos. Mine were fantastic (I would have only put more onions if possible). OH! Did I mention the corn tortillas are homemade!?! My friends, this is a classic test of merit! (insert soap box) The places willing to make their most basic things from scratch are not to be scoffed at. Speaking of “from scratch,” it should be better broadcasted that the guacamole is made fresh to order, TABLESIDE 🙌—all bias acknowledged! And the bar boasts a made fresh daily sangria of red wine and fruit juices 🍷. Now that I’m done drooling, let me lay out the complimentary chips and salsa for you. The chips are your standard store bought and heated chips, but the SALSAS!!!!!! Typically the table is given a roasted/charred red salsa which is very tame on the spice spectrometer, and a chunkier red salsa that sits a little closer to a medium in spicy-ness. I’m told they have another red salsa upon request that can melt your tastebuds off if you so desire, as well as a salsa verde (also upon request) which varies in heat due to the inconsistency of the peppers and ripeness of the tomatillos....mine was no hotter than a medium and made a GREAT pairing with my Al Pastor tacos Mexicanos. For full disclosure, we also ordered a shrimp sope (the corn “pancake” was fresh and hand pressed, the frijoles the perfect kind of saltiness, & the grilled shrimp well seasoned...shrimp is not a “posted” option for these, but they are willing to accommodate upon request); and sides of rice (arroz). The rice was a fantastic texture of fluffiness without being overcooked as well as a balanced flavor of tomatoes/peppers/salt. We personally can not wait to return and hope you find your experience to be as...
Read moreLet me start this review off with my first experience which was a few months ago and I went in the restaurant. Initially walking in it wasn't very busy and I always base any cleanliness of a restaurant on the bathrooms. The bathrooms was pretty rundown looking and grundgy. The service that day was great but again it wasn't very busy. The food presentation was great and the food tasted very good. On that note, I decided to order take out today and since the food was pretty good the first time I figured why not. I ordered chicken nachos, a large cheese dip, and a habaneros quesadilla. Upon getting my order there was no jalapeños on the nachos, when I inquired about them they promptly brought some but proceeded to try to charge me for them (the nacho come with them and I did not say no jalapeños). When I get home I realized I really should have checked the entire bag! The large cheese dip was in a small container with I swear half a bag of chips (I have never seen half a bag of chips stapled down half way, like really!?). The habaneros quesadilla had no white cheese on top like the menu said (I ordered the same thing when I dined in the first time). Nothing about this order was correct, so if u are ordering take out I suggest u...
Read moreWe are on our last day of vacation and were very excited to try a new Mexican Restaurant, and wasted a total of almost $70 on 2 separate orders. We saw this one and decided to stop in. We ordered our food to go and when we got back to the motel, we were highly disappointed. We ordered a LARGE cheese dip for $7 and all we got was prob 7 ounces.....we were told large was 2 and a half smalls and would be plenty for 5 people. The pico de gallo was like soup, not the regular veggie chunks like we usually get. The cheese dip tasted like it had some kind of metallic taste, or burnt taste or something we couldn't identify. The nachos barely had cheese on them and the chile rellenos didn't have any cheese on them. The worst part, in my opinion, was when my son pulled a long hair out of his mouth after taking a bite........it was a long one, too. We will NOT be back. I do not like giving negative reviews, but, this one, I feel, is very needed to warn others...
