I originally posted my experience on 6/23/22 regarding the rotten seafood that was sold to me. I was back 2 weeks ago to give it another chance and still had the same experience regarding their seafood being bad. This time I told the man working behind the counter about my experience and if he could please smell the fish before rapping it up, he did and said it smelled fine. After handing me my order I smelled it and could not believe it, it was rotten again. I told the guy behind the counter I did not want this and to smell it, he said it smelled fine? so I took it to the manager and told him what happened and he went back to the seafood section and it stunk so bad that he had them pull all the fish out and clean the cooler..smh. The manager told me it may be the distributor and they had to check with them. I personally do not think it is. they have new people working who are not experienced working with seafood and may leave the fish out to long before putting it in the case. seafood is very sensitive to temperature changes. so if you take it out and leave out for 15 mins and exposed to the room temperature then decide to place it in the front cooler afterwards it is more than likely going to become rotten. the man smelled the fish 4 times and could not understand what I was saying, the manager did after he smelled it. I LOVE LUCKYS and I am very disappointed because I always bought all my seafood from there. The seafood section is not the type of job where "no experience" is necessary, you have to know what your doing when your handling seafood and especially have knowledge about the smell. ONCE AGAIN thank you to the manager who was a male this time and took all the seafood out of the cooler before anyone else bought it. I still buy seafood from there, but only from the frozen section. Sincerely...
Read moreOld review:I won’t be back I had a horrible experience when I first moved here and it’s been almost a year and I walked out …the persons who work here are the rudest customer service persons I’ve encountered. I’m not a fan of Giant Eagle but they’ve my business for now on. New review February 8, today was a surprisingly good day/experience at this grocery store, I wanted needed the fried chicken ,didn’t want to deal w/the employees but decided after not wanting to come in the fried chicken was a stronger pull lol. The deli area gentleman was so helpful respectfully professional just way different than I’d experienced here b4. Last time around thanksgiving I’d asked for Campbell’s soup got ‘help’ the girl who ‘helped’ me got down on her hands an knees and found the item I should say she was huffy and seemed annoyed helping, but then got up handed me the cream on chicken soup and said it’s right there all you have to do is look. Wow I’m 55 years old and am expected to know to get on the ground and look for pushed back products onto the ground shelf. But also today the gentleman’s at the deli and the long haired dreadlocks at the register was easy polite bagged everything in a ddble perfectly without any prompt it was easy smooth and done quickly b4 I could even catch it. Thank you, some of the employees could really learn from these persons ! There is a lot of hanging out by employees in isles they ignore you when your trying to move thru like ugh it’s can be a task . BUT today...
Read moreI love it here! I think it's a great place to get groceries if you can afford it and an excellent place to buy produce period.
When they first opened I stereotyped the appeal as being a sort of suburban marketing ploy - attracting all the money of Lakewood with promises of being organic and with programs that offer 10% of sales to charity, so wealthy consumers could feel good about their purchase of Pop Chips. Whatever.
I was pretty wrong about that assessment. Not that I don't think that there isn't a particular degree of market appeal to their model, but that there is also true to the wholesome nature of the products they sell. They source a lot of things locally, supporting small and nearby businesses, for example. They are expensive, which does make it inaccessible for some people, but that is the nature of consuming either higher quality ingredients or lower capacity (see:ethical) products.
That aside, their produce is both good and cheap (at least seasonally). The quality of it, I feel, is way higher than at places like Giant Eagle while being of a comparable price. I would recommend it to anyone, at any income level, because it's both accessible and worthwhile. A rare combination.
The staff are always unreasonably nice.
It's a good place and I'm sorry for ever thinking back...
