I've been coming here practically since I was in diapers, I absolutely love it here and would just like to show my appreciation and discuss some things. Seeing some other reviews you have to realize this place is a ma & pa video game store this isn't your GameStop, Target, BestBuy, Amazon mega business corporation type of store, I know people aren't satisfied with some of the prices they get for trades in but this is a business and out of any other video game store I ever been too these guys are extremely fair, they use price charting and go off of ebay prices and GameStop trade in prices as well, they have multiple employees and overhead obviously so even though they can't offer you 100% what these games go for, they always always always offer close and definitely more than any other place could, If you want ebay prices you're going to have to list your games on ebay yourself, Digital Press will actually go the extra mile and clean and test these trade ins too, you never have to worry about a dead battery or untested console with them and if something slips by they will always fix it. Nobody here is stingy or shady I been coming here since the old wax mario cards with the stale gum in the back of the packs lol, and those old gummy mario lollipops and seen probably 100+ employees throughout time and every single one is honest and respectful. Joe (the owner) would absolutely never just hire anybody. All his employees are absolute genuises with video game knowledge. Even his newest hired employees can smoke you with what they know in game knowledge. I always learn something new and enjoy talking to all their employees. The vibe of the store is like shopping in a museum you actually learn things and appreciate video game history throughout the decades, it's cool coming here for ps5 or switch games and right next to them is a whole display of intellivison stuff or you see store kiosk displays for old GameCube games. They also too host NAVA events where the last Saturday of every month they pick a random game and do mini competitions and allow people to vendor and sell their own video game stuff for absolutely free, they don't ask for any commission or get upset about it which just alone helping out the local community of gamers is extremely generous of them because essentially if a random person comes in the shop with a huge bin of games that day, they are essentially taking away digital press's business so it's seriously like a home away from home. They have a bunch of pc video game emulator rigs in the back and also a handful of arcade cabinet machines. I seriously have nothing but great things I can say about them and if you're in the area please do not go to GameStop or BestBuy support a local business that actually gives back to the community and cares and doesn't price gouge at all. You don't have to worry about no DKOldies prices with these guys. Also too I'd recommend following them on Instagram as they post almost daily all the new stuff that's been traded in. If you had a bad experience in the past, please give them another chance they truly are a great store and are very knowledgeable some of my favorite video games I ever played have been recommended to me by Digital Press employees. (Also I am not an employee or affiliated with Digital Press in anyway whatsoever) I genuinely love everyone there and just wanted to express my appreciation as a regular customer there for Joe, his crew, the store, and gaming community in general retro and new. Thank you, Digital Press, for all the battery replacements, disc resurfaces, recommendations, and friends I made...
Read moreI called the store due to a mistake they made, when I bought a game from their establishment. I told the employee that I recently bought a game from them a couple of days ago and that unfortunately I wasn't able to open it, til a couple of days later when I had time. So when I go to open it today I'm met with an empty game case. So as I'm explaining this to the employee he ask me if I bought it from the floor display or from the glass counter, I told him from the glass counter, he confirmed that it would be empty if that was the case. but told me I will still need my receipt I told him ,that I lost my receipt, but I have the transaction on display on my bank statement. But he didn't want to listen and said "well we won't be able to help you." They're knowingly selling empty game cases and I'm stating this because the game cover was obviously rewrapped (in a weird obvious hackjob way- it had a lifted flap- not my first time buying a game and I know damn well they're wrapped at the factory their made at.)it had a price label with the store name and a smaller label (stating the merchandise is new and never been opened.) he admitted that it would be empty if it was from behind the counter display, it was misleading to knowingly sell me something that was missing the game and relabeled as New and purposely went through the transaction and now they're using their receipt policy. Disgusting, dishonest not recommending this place to anyone unless you want to pay for just the game case, when you think you're buying a game. Why go through all the trouble of opening a game cases, removing the game cartridge from the case, rewrapping the game cover and labeling it NEW, it's very obvious that it's a scam. The employee was very rude, condescending and dismissive of customers concerns. That's not how you keep customers, that's how you push them away. I tried explaining to him that he should learn how to treat customers so they keep coming back but he continued to...
Read moreThe store is very clean and laid out well. The selection is very good. You are sure to come across the game you want. Be it for PS3,PS2, PS1, Atari, almost anything. They do have events where alot of people come in, and I'm sure alot of people sell games at these events.
However my last few trips have been incredibly disappointing, the service being the real killer. A few months to a year ago, I bought NIGHTS Into Dreams for the Sega Saturn. The game did not work after a beating the first boss. I understand this not being noticed, as it appears to work fine. However, since then I have had more issues. I bought Space Channel 5 and Hydro Thunder, both for Sega Dreamcast. Space Channel 5 outright did not work. When I went to return it, the woman at the counter said it was not the game, but my console is dying. Every other game has worked before, and since.
The real kicker is Hydro Thunder. When I opened the case, Inside was not the game, but an Office Depot CD-R that was labeled "NBA Showtime on NBC." It was just various sound samples of some NBA game. There is NO WAY that can get through without someone noticing.
In total I spent $25 on those two games. When I came back for returning the games, the woman only gave me $10 back. She took back Space Channel 5, she threw Hydro Thunder straight into the trash. I should have gotten the whole amount back, as one game did not work, and one was out right not even a game. She also had an attitude during the whole process.
I can't say I'm very pleased. I've had better luck with Ebay and Amazon, as well as generally better prices, so I will probably stick there for my gaming purchases. It is a shame because I use to visit Digital Press a good amount. My brother even bought a PS3 and a Gamecube from the store. He thought about returning to get an Xbox 360, I told him to just go to Gamestop. Closer locations, and (at least at my local Gamestop,) a much...
