I'll start by saying that I am a first time home owner and my cozy 40' x 100' lot is everything to me. We knew it was a fixer-upper when we bought it and have been slowly working on it year by year. I do most of the work myself and with friends as I'm in the trade but more importantly I'm genuinely skeptical of contractors. My experience with them since purchasing a home has been abysmal: salesmen come by, give you an estimate and genuinely want to do right by you but then the crew shows up. It's a job site to them and not every last dollar you have, they don't see the blood, sweat and tears you've put into it- Joe Mitchell and his family do. Robert came by when he said he would, gave me an estimate, spoke straight with me about the details of the job, an estimated start date and gave honest assessments of my numerous concerns. Joe somehow was even better. The day the driveway was to be paved I was understandably wound up. My wife is worried about the flower beds, my kids are rioting, and I'm worried that another contractor is going to try and put one over on me. Great guys, very honest. I pulled 3 quotes from 3 different paving companies initially and was surprised to see that while everyone charged the same amount per sq-ft of driveway scrapped and re-paved, the quotes were very different as everyone had different ides on how big my driveway was. I measured it myself. This was not an easy task as it has a neck, strip and wide parking area. The element between strip and wide parking area is bounded by a circle segment by one side and straight line by another. After 1 hour of measurement and calculations (including a simple area integral for the circle sector bounded region) I've got 3914sqft. It took Robert less than 5 minutes to get it measured to 3900sqft. That's the skill of quick and accurate estimation. Since their quotes are fair the guys are extremely busy as they get tons of work and you will have to wait in-line once they have a slot for you. Once they came in I was impressed that Robert's farther, business owner, came in and personally oversaw the quality of work and even drove one of the rollers himself on a couple of occasions. Robert was shoveling asphalt with employees and their business partner drove dump truck back and forth taking away old asphalt and bringing back gravel and later new asphalt. I’m so glad I choose accurate paving. I want to start by saying they gave me a great price and they were the only ones to put a 3 year written guarantee right in the estimate/contract. My driveway came out perfect. The business is run by three generations of the same family. I believe they have been in business for over 50 years. The grandfather George supervised the tear out and grading. Joe second generation my salesperson and contact supervised the install he also ran the roller he was very meticulous directing the guys to every corner. I also want to add whenever I reached out to Joe he either picked up or got back to me the same day.
