On 2/21/17, my iPhone 6 Plus fell from my hand and the screen cracked in a couple places. I researched and found Batteries Plus, and I figured their price was a good deal.
I went to Batteries Plus on 2/22/17, the guys I saw were polite and seemed professional. They did all the necessary inspections/tests on my phone to ascertain if it was damaged and working properly. Except for a couple scratches on the upper left and right of the phone (where it hit the pavement) and the obvious cracked screen, everything was OK.
I was back an hour and half later to pick it up. The first thing I noticed was that it was sticky and the plastic they put on the screen had many air bubbles. There were fingerprints on the back of the phone. I did a quick inspection of the screen, paid and then left.
After removing the plastic and cleaning the phone, I noticed, where the speaker for the earpiece is, that there was an obvious pinhole. Just below that pinhole, I saw what looked like a chip. I ran my figure across the area, but it was smooth to the touch, therefore, the chip was NOT on the surface, it was BELOW.
I didnāt call Batteries Plus immediately, but the following day, the morning of 2/22/17, I called and I spoke to Mark. I told him of my visit the previous day and the reason for my call. Of the pinhole, the first thing he said was, āthereās supposed to be a pinhole.ā He then said I should take it in to have it looked at. I told him that I would visit the store Saturday, 2/25/17.
I didnāt wait for Saturday to come, the following day before work, early morning (2/23/17), I went to the store. Mark was there when I arrived, he recalled our conversation the day before.
He looked at my phone and his immediate reaction was it wasnāt a chip and he said something about the, āmeshā. He said if I wanted the screen replaced, then heād have it replaced but he also asked a few times, āhow do I know you didnāt do it?ā He asked if I didnāt inspect it before leaving the store. Of course he also said, "I'm not saying you did it." In retail, people often lie.
I strongly denied whatever assumption he was making. He FINALLY picked up a magnifying glass, looked at the area, then concurred it was in fact a chip. Now, like I pointed out earlier, the chip WAS NOT ON THE SURFACE of the phone, it was below, where it would have been IMPOSSIBLE for ANYONE to damage. After all that, he still seem unconvinced I wasnāt the one who damaged it. I was done debating the who did it issue, he had agreed to have the screen replaced and that was all I wanted to hear.
When I stepped out of the store I saw one of the guys I saw the first time I went. I told him the reason for my visit. He said, āI didnāt see that.ā So, to both people, I was a liar, at least thatās the impression I got.
Yesterday, Saturday, 2/25/17 I stepped in the store (saw the same guy I saw on my last 2 visits, the one who said, āI didnāt see that.ā), the atmosphere wasnāt as friendly as my first visit. They seemed bothered that I dared to return my phone to be fixed properly. I left the phone and returned an hour later. This time, they cleaned the phone before returning it to me. I carefully inspected it.
The glass seemed to have been replaced properly, and they fixed the OBVIOUS PINHOLE by placing the mesh properly over it.
Last night and this morning I noticed a couple issues. When in the, āMessagesā app and Iām typing a text, the app closes (not all the time, but a few times. Thatās never happened before). This morning I couldnāt get on to, āSafariā.
If, itās one thing that gets me pissed, it is anyone accusing me of being dishonest.
Had they not treated me like a liar, this review would have been different. Accidents happen. I would have understood that the glass might have gotten chipped when they were putting it on and they forgot to cover the earpiece, pinhole. But to make it seem as though it was my fault, when it should have been clear it wasn't, then that is inexcusable. I paid almost $130. They didn't...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAwful bait and switch. Paid for battery plus install. Quiet day, no one in the store. Counter guy says he can't/won't install cause it's too difficult. I call corporate. Batteries are both on the ok list, not difficult at all, one of the most popular cars on the road. He just wont do it, won't explain, nothing, Just leaves me hanging with a busted hand and uninstalled battery. I consider this a blatant bait and switch in that there are a dozen facilities up and down Rt & that do the same exact thing for +/- $20 difference! My mistake trying this place. Now I'm stuck w/ a battery I can't install. Have to battle/haggle to return or install myself. God, do I wish I went to advanced, autozone, oreilly, or one the dozen others who do this for real, without the lies, time wasting and lack of communication. Still haven't heard from the manager as promised or the mysterious "owners group" also as promised. If you need a flashlight battery or want to get jerked around politely, this place is nifty. For you car, run don't walk to another vendor who wants to help you, not sell you something, schedule installation, then install it in your passenger seat and tell you too bad. One of the worst experiences I've had and I do purchasing for a living. If you don't do installs, WHY IS THERE A FUNCTIONAL APPOINTMENT SETTER ON YOUR WEBSITE SPECIFICALLY FOR INSTALLATIONS?! Mine was 3pm. Like I said, they sold a battery w/ out getting dirty doing what they offer. Good for them. Not for me or you. I gave the extra star cause the battery price was decent. Hence, making the bait and switch even more effective. It kept me from going to a better vendor and getting the job done. The battery is still in my passenger seat and I'm jumping the car in the rain. Believe me, I have choicer words for that store but whatever. In fact, since no one cares, wants to make it right or even get back to me, I'll just a keep on writing reviews. Maybe one day the mysterious "owners group" will contact me. Not holding my breath, just making an appt at Advanced. But now I'm going to reward them by buying the aux AND main battery (they install both). Thx for nothing but aggravation B+. Advanced...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreGRAB YOUR POPCORN, KICK BACK AND ENJOY THIS STORY I AM ABOUT TO TELL YOU.... SO I PURCHASED A DURACELL BATTERY FROM THEM ALMOST 3 YEARS AGO FOR MY WIFES CAR. THIS PAST WEEKEND SHE TOOK A TRIP UP TO ORLANDO WITH NO ISSUES.
ON SUNDAY AFTERNOON SHE CALLS ME AND SAYS CAR WONT START, AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH I WAS ABLE TO LOCATE THE AGE OF THE BATTERY . I CALLED THIS LOCATION AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT IT WAS STILL COVERED UNDER WARRANTY WHICH WAS GOOD NEWS EXCEPT SHES WAY UP IN ORLANDO. THEY INFORMED ME THAT THEY ARE NATION WIDE AND SHE CAN DO THE SWAP UP THERE. I WAS SO EXCITED AND CALLED A STORE CLOSE TO HER RIGHT AWAY. ONCE SHE ARRIVED SHE SPOKE TO A GUY NAMED DARREN AND THEN IT ALL WENT SOUTH FROM THERE.
SYSTEMS WERE DOWN AND COULDN'T DO THE WARRANTY SWAP , AND WAS TOLD WOULD HAVE TO HANG OUT IN ORLANDO FOR A DAY UNTIL SYSTEMS WERE BACK UP AND RUNNING OR PURCHASE A NEW BATTERY OUT OF POCKET.
AFTER HEARING THIS I TOLD HER JUST PURCHASE A NEW BATTERY AND WE WILL EXCHANGE AT THIS LOCATION IN COCONUT CREEK . DARREN ALSO INFORMED US THAT IS NO PROBLEM AND THE OTHER STORE CAN TAKE CARE OF THE REFUND.
GUESS WHAT DARREN??? YOUR WRONG AGAIN!!!
I ARRIVED AT THIS LOCATION YESTERDAY I EXPLAINED THE WHOLE SITUATION TO KEVIN AND THOMAS. THEY WERE JUST AS SHOCKED AS I WAS SO THEY CALLED THE ORLANDO STORE.. THEY GOT THE TREAT TO SPEAK TO DARREN AND AFTER A FEW CONVERSATIONS WITH HIM THEY GOT THE REAL PICTURE OF DARREN AND HIS SERVICE.
THERE WAS A LOT OF PAPER WORK AND YELLOW TAPE TO MAKE THIS SWAP HAPPEN AND GET MY MONEY BACK.
BUT KEVIN AND THOMAS DIDN'T SKIP A BEAT!! THEY WERE COMPLETELY ON POINT. THEY APOLOGIZED FOR THE OTHER STORES LACK OF CUSTOMER SERVICE.
AND FOR DARREN AND HIS MANAGER BUBBA .. OR WAS IT PABLO
YEAH I DONT THINK DARREN KNEW HIS MANAGERS NAME...
