First impressions: uncompromising, âMUST TRYâ good food, with distinctly DIVERSE and intentional seasoning.
Let me put it this way⌠If youâre within 15 miles of this place itâs worth driving OUT of your way to try it for yourself.
So itâs my first time here and from what I heard, for the past eight months Falafel Gourmet has been under newer management. With an all new menu out this week I found it the perfect time to give it a shot and Iâm proud to report it did not disappoint.
Itâs hard to single out any menu item as a âmust tryâ, because everything is so good. Sometimes you go to a restaurant and all their food tastes the same so it doesnât matter what you order. Here, there is so much care in the way the food is seasoned and prepared, the flavors of EACH menu item are BOLD, VIBRANT and absolutely FRESH.
Itâs what I think makes this new menu so exciting.
Ask the staff for recommendations, theyâre friendly and wonât lead you wrong. I tried the Grilled Feta Cheese, which if youâre new to Lebanese food, is like a fresh take on a quesadilla with feta and tomato. With a side of Labanese fries and maybe some taziki, youâll have everything you need for a delicious and affordable meal.
Another standout is -of course- the Beef Shawarma Wrap. For best experience I recommend eating at the location, your food will be crisp and hot leaving you with a more authentic experience.
I can go on and on about the desserts and pastries here as well like the Baklava and the Lebanese Rice Pudding⌠but I think I leave that as a little surprise for you when you make the visit yourself!
Finally, the restaurant is in a great location but easy to miss if youâre not looking for it! However, with food this good, I can easily see Falafel Gourmet stepping out from becoming one of Coral Springâs âhidden gemsâ to one of the top âheavy hittersâ in the area very soon! So stop in ASAP.
Lasting impression: The staff (MJ and Andrew) are kind, thoughtful, and genuinely excited about the food they serve âŚand you can TASTE the difference that makes in their cooking. Wow wow wow. Canât wait to go back! See you...
Read moreAt first glance, Falafel Gourmet may seem like a sit-down food venue but as it turns out it's more of a local market with meals available over the counter. That's not to say the food isn't great, because it certainly is.
As you enter you'll see a few aisles of middle eastern items, which I'm sure is ideal for those of the culture looking to do some light shopping. Approaching the counter you'll be greeted by a very friendly man, who will present you with a menu and await your order. It's important to note that there is somewhat of a language barrier since the man's English appears to be minimal. This won't stop you from ordering but you'll need to point to photos on the menu and keep it simple, to ensure communication is consistent and that your order is correct.
The menu contains a good variety of options, ranging from sandwiches to entire platters. Drinks include a somewhat random selection of bottled and canned drinks, including non-alcoholic beer. Once you've ordered and grabbed a drink, you can sit outside and they'll bring the food to you. The food was very delicious! I ordered a falafel platter which included rice, chicken and a salad. The meal is served in a styrofoam to-go container, which makes it convenient if you need to head out.
The seating is very limited since there's only one or two tables outside with only a couple seats. This is more of a order to-go or dine solo type of store, which makes it less ideal for dining with a group of friends. But being small has its advantages - the people are extremely friendly and very attentive. I wouldn't be surprised if this place was family owned and operated. You can tell they value your service. Fresh, delicious food and friendly smiles are more than enough reasons to give this...
Read moreAuthentic halal food. Excellently flavored with just the right spices and sauces. We had the Falafel Plate, Lamb Shawarma Plate, Kibbeh, Lebanese Fries, Lamb Shawarma Wrap. Every dish was served hot and perfectly flavored with side sauces to try. Ahmad was our host and server as we chose to dine in. He was friendly, knowledgeable about the food and gracious and convinced us to try the pistachio flavored Turkish coffee which was wonderful; however, since he suggested that we try it because he wanted our feedback and because it was something new, we didnât think that we would be charged for it and we were unpleasantly surprised when $10 was added to our bill which, when I asked about it, he offered to take off due to our apparent misunderstanding but we felt awkward about it and let it be. Also, donât try to use a Dinning Advantage certificate because they no longer accept them because of the change in ownership. Had it not been for these 2 issues, I would have given them 5 stars instead of 4. We will be back but we will make sure that we donât âtryâ the coffee again as neither one of us are coffee drinkers nor would we drink a flavored coffee before our meal. Ahmad did share some samples of other things like their homemade hazelnut halavah along with some other sweet treats to try at no additional charge which is why we thought the coffee was a sampling too since it was served in expresso sized...
