We purchased a brand new home and have worked with Ikea designer to design his and her closet back in Jan. We made our purchase as soon we received the notification that the PAX were in-stock on Jan 30, 2025.
it was good until the scheduled delivery were made on feb 13. there were over 10 items were missing from the delivery and 4 of those are the largest size PAX. By the way, we had scheduled for task-rabbit technicians to install both of our closet, mid way only to realize that we didn't have all material delivered. We have to schedule the 2nd installation date with task-rabbit.
We made dozen of phone calls to Ikea customer service team over the course of 6 weeks and always received the same promise that we will receive the PAX by certain date. However, the 1st replacement delivery only delivered 2 PAX and missing 2. I don't understand why. After that, Ikea customer service tried to replace the order for the 2 missing PAX for 5 times with no stock and no follow up to us. We had always have to initiate the request for the replacement of the missing items and follow up.
After 6 weeks and over 10+ hours on the phone and we received the news on March 13 that IKEA has refunded us the 2 missing PAX due to no-stock. This is crazy as we are stuck with a half completed closet, and no real date of when the PAX will be back in-stock.
We decided to go to our near warehouse in College Park in hope we can get a real solution with someone face to face. Also, the online customer service has told us that College Park would get inventory (qty:36) on Sunday. So we thought we need to try our luck as a last resource. By the way, this is the warehouse in which organized the inventory for our order and ship them to us, so they are the origin of this whole frustration. I was helped by 2 different employees at the return/exchange area. One was completely not knowledgable and unwilling to help. We even requested to speak with the store manager but she completely refuse to see us. With our frustration, talking nice wasn't gonna get through anyone ear, so we started talking loudly to express our disappointment in "Ikea" which is a bis chain company but NOT willing to provide a "real solution" to customer. Seeing the escalated situation, another employee, who seem to be a senior one, came over and asked what we really need. We seemly just need to be put back on the reservation line and on the front of the line so we can get the 2 PAX as soon as possible. We told him that we just couldn't take the "No-stock and Ikea can't manage the reservation line or can't allow reservation/order when No-stock" as an answer. He checked something on his computer for about 10 minutes and then grab his vest and said he would need to go check the dock in the back and will be back. 25 minutes later, he returned and pushing out the 2 heavy PAX for us; we paid again for the PAX and leave the ware house in peace. Before we left, we told him that we really appreciate him for acknowledging our situation and frustration, and for stepping up to take responsibility which may have not been his at all.
We are still not happy for having to spend all those extra effort to get the ordered material, NO closet to use for weeks and for task-rabbit to come back the 3rd time to complete the closet installation. But we are grateful that there was at least a good & professional employee who willing to help resolve our problem and allow us to move on from this frustrated situation.
I hope this help someone out there who may be in similar...
Read moreIKEA... If only they had free shipping with those prices! I'm a bit overwhelmed with Ikea each time I go and I usually get lost. When you first come in this Ikea, there is a child care place to your right and and escalator directly ahead. When you take the escalator up, you are funneled up to the Ikea showroom maze. There are products in bins occasionally for purchase, but this area is mostly for viewing the products and seeing them in different arrangements. When you see something that you want to purchase, look at the tag and make note of the location (or take a picture). This will allow you to find it later in the warehouse which you'll eventually get to... Stay on the winding path and consult the maps along the way. At the end of the showroom maze is the cafeteria and restrooms. There is also a separate changing room for diapering you have children as well as a somewhat secluded chair you could use to breastfeed a child. Use the elevator or stairs to go down to the actual marketplace where they have Ikea products - kitchen gadgets, organizers, lighting, bedding, curtains, rugs, etc - but not the actual furniture items. This marketplace winds around until you reach the third part of Ikea, the warehouse. Take a rolling cart if you have a larger item to pick up and go to the location of your item that you noted earlier upstairs on the showroom level. Pick up your item and now you can actually check out. In the check out area there is a clearance section of returned to damaged Ikea furniture items if you have time to take a look. After you check out, there are cheap snack foods - $1 ice cream, .75 hotdogs, cheap pizza, cinnamon rolls and the like. There is also an area for returns or parts requests. (Take a number... It's like the DMV) Hopefully you've brought a friend (or find an employee) to hold your larger merchandise. Now go find your car in the gigantic parking lot and find a stall to back up into so you can load up your larger items. Hopefully it all fits. If not (bummer!), there's also a place where you can arrange for delivery. Congratulations! You've made it...
Read moreMe and my family went here yesterday just to purchase two nightstands end up going downstairs paying for the items told to go wait for somebody to retrieve them. We waited over a hour. No one in that area acknowledged us one guy can’t even speak English. The next girl was having a whole conversation with another lady for over 25 minutes straight, laughing and playing around and hugging then you had to guys in the return section only one guy was working and the guy with the dreads you could tell he is beyond lazy his whole demeanor, like he don’t wanna do nothing all he did the whole time was sit on the phone nonstop I didn’t know you people get paid just to do nothing but play on the phone then I finally called customer service. Talk to someone she talk to the manager. The manager was supposed to come over there. No no manager I had to go and find the manager then when she came, nothing was resolved as of yet, so it seems like to me they only have one guy that can use the forklift to take items off and he end up leaving work a whole hour prior to them closing so basically we said in there for over an hour for nothing and the manager she just seems like everybody in that place just walks all over her. I’ve truly wish I couldn’t give them one star beyond unprofessional that just tells you what management looks like in this place if people just collect the money for free and barely doing work. So she came back again the manager and asked me if I would like to have. My items delivered. I told her I can have my items were delivered because I would not be home. so I end up doing a refund. The moral of the story is the these people are beyond unprofessional, and I will not go here again never again. they definitely do not put customers first. Maybe only if you’re white that may apply. take a look at the pictures look what time the items was purchased, and look what time I left with no items These employees do whatever they want to do now what’s going to happened to the guy that left early oh you know nothing will happen because I’m pretty sure this is not the first...
