My husband and I had the most incredible date night, and my heart is still pounding on the way home! Upon waiting to be entered, a gentleman in what appeared to be a ringmaster costume was chatting with us and then asked for my name. I was excited and told him, to which he replied, “You don’t tell a haunted house your name, now we’re going to give you a real good scare!” He gave the actors a description of us and told them to really amp up the scares. We definitely felt like we got VIP treatment. The actors were incredible, the different rooms were very well done and constructed to give you enough time to look but also to be scared at any minute. I told myself that I wouldn’t get that scared but I was screaming left and right and found myself hiding behind my husband. The actors are very respectful and won’t touch you or cross the line - they will follow you just enough to get you into the next room for your next scare. I absolutely LOVED the mental hospital and the haunted mines, and the 3D glasses for the clown setup was very well done and was a nice surprise factor. There’s also a pizza food truck outside and one gentleman said, “Oh no look out!” To which I of course screamed. It seems like everyone there is in the mood to scare, and we were definitely not opposed to it. Thank you for giving us a night to remember!

It wasn't to bad... it was my son's first time and he loved it!! I found most of the characters to put in there part, while some, well ONE to be exact, a little on the defense side. She was rude and prickly, which I found in the family oriented Haunted Mines to be out of place. I hope to never see her again in any Halloween haunted house. It almost ruined my family evening of spooky 💀 fun!! On that note...it was full of games and music to keep standing in line more fun. It was a little pricey but not so much that it broke the bank. It could have been a bit more scary đŸ€Ș All in all, it was good for a first timer.

Very scary haunted house. I screamed a lot and had an amazing time. Very detailed themed rooms and there was several floors of the building to go through. The actors are all unique and frightening. Women chased us a bit and added to the excitement. Such a fun experience with the family but maybe not the little kids.

Update: Fear Complex irons out all the issues posted in earlier years of this haunt. The rebrand and new location is awesome. This is where it's at the actors are all phenominal and the sets are cool! The only downside is the area, its pretty shady at night. Otherwise great haunt.

So I have some mixed feelings about this haunt. I've been to other haunted houses in Colorado Springs, Hellscream being one of my all time favorites. Even though this haunt is relatively big and there are many environments to traverse, it feels like a lot of what made Haunted Mines special in the first place was lost in the move to this new location. Kind of felt like there was this weird identity crisis, I felt like the decent into darkness was better illustrated at the other location. That being said a lot of the actors were very good, had a great time with many of them and enjoyed the little banter back and forth between groups. But my main problem came from pacing. They would send people in groups, some groups being slower then others would cause the faster groups behind them to catch up, which would take me right out of the immersion because most of the animatronics and scares had been tripped mere seconds before entering the room. They have this weird PUSH PUSH PUSH mentality that leaves the haunt feeling more like a "haunted house" you would visit at your local carnival then a dedicated haunt. There is no purpose of groups if the actors won't stall the faster groups or speed up the slower groups. I also kept running into staff, who were talking to actors out of character. Which also broke the immersion.

So here's a list of pros and cons

Pros Great actors Makeup and costumes look great Interesting Concepts and environments

Cons BAD group pacing Staff is all over the place when they should be trying their best to be hidden Cheesy local carnival feel not enough interaction with customers

DISCLAIMER: This haunt isn't set to open until September so hopefully they iron the kinks out before then. I will update this review when I visit it next during Opening Week...

Honestly based on the reviews I expected it to be much scarier than it was. I had a few jump scares but overall I was fairly calm throughout. I enjoyed the decorations and commitment to the various themes! It was fun to go into each themed room. The first third or so, it was super scary with lots of actors! However, once we passed through the haunted hospital part, there were mostly animatronics and only a few actors. Through the haunted forest bit there were zero jump scares, and only one in the haunted mine. I don’t know if they were just understaffed last night, but I think it would’ve been 5 stars if they had the same amount of scarers as the hospital but throughout the full experience.

It wasn’t their fault but there was a pretty big traffic jam throughout. We quickly caught up to the group in front of us and then a big group of 10 caught up to us. I think the large stream of people really contributed to the lack of fear throughout, but again, not their fault it was so busy!

All that being said, this was probably the most I have laughed in a haunted house. The actors banter and one-liners were hilarious. I also really loved the decorations and number of animatronics. So not necessarily a very scary haunted house overall, but I still had a very fun experience! It depends on what you’re looking for in a haunted house experience. If they doubled the amount of actors I would...
