When my wife and I heard of a new Cuban place opening in Colorado Springs, we knew we had to be there! We learned about their grand opening through a Facebook group and made plans to visit them tonight.
Upon waking in, you are welcomed with Spanish music and smiling faces. The server and cook were both full of character. This is the definition of a family-run establishment and I’m here for it!
I didn’t eat the entire day in order for us to order a lot of food.
As we were ordering the complimentary plantain chips and water were served and then we made the following order:
Appetizers: Croquetas de Jamon & 3 Empanadas (2 Ground Beef & 1 Guava & Cheese)
Entrees: Ropa Vieja with Arroz Congri & Tostones & Pan con Bistec
Everything was flavorful and tasted outstanding. My wife’s two favorite items were the guava and cheese empanadas and the arroz congri.
I loved the Ropa Vieja, arroz congri and tostones. The flavors were spot on and the Ropa Vieja was perfectly tender and juicy.
The tostones had a crunchier exterior with a very filling interior. Perfect tostones.
Everything was made to order and either met or exceeded expectations.
My favorite part of the whole night though was when the chef came out to our table and simply inquired how our food was. I couldn’t do anything but clap and yell “Oustanding!”
You know you’re getting real Cuban food when the chef comes out to check on you midway while eating.
Overall, my wife and I cannot wait to come back. We’re glad we found it early, because we can see this place getting packed and becoming a local gem in...
Read moreAs soon as I walk into Arelita, “estoy en casa”- I am home. Growing up in Cuba, living in Miami for so long Cuban food has become a part of who I am. In Colorado, I struggled to find a place like this. I can only say one thing, Arelita reminds me of home, Amaury, the owner reminds me of family. The food is as authentic as the very food I had in my hometown of Cienfuegos, Cuba. Today, one of the many times I have come to visit, I had the yellow rice with smoked chicken and maduros. I was transported back to my house on the 3rd floor of our Cuban apartment where my mom made the exact same meal. On Saturdays, I have (more than a handful of times) had the pleasure of having the original and authentic oxtail - “rabo encendido”, with Cuban tamales and rice and beans. What a delight and punch of flavor. The owner, Amaury doesn’t just elevate the foods all Cubans grew up eating, he makes it with love. He enjoys coming to check on you, make sure you are satisfied with the meal, and delighted to bring you the meals he so passionately crafts.
Arelita is an experience I hope people of all cultures can enjoy. While flights to Cuba are difficult and expensive in this day and age. A short drive to Arelita will transport you to the island. Latin music fills the restaurant, frames of the beauty of Cuba decorate the walls, and the Cuban hospitality is by far the best part. Could not recommend Arelita any more than I already have, deserving of all its glory and attention, and by far, the best restaurant and hospitality in all of Denver and...

We opted for the sampler platter, which was a delightful introduction to the diverse flavors of Cuban cuisine. Each bite was a testament to the chef's skill showcasing a harmonious blend of spices and textures that danced on the palate.
I indulged in the classic Cubano, and it did not disappoint; the balance of savory meats and tangy pickles was executed flawlessly.
The crowning glory of the meal was undoubtedly the flan, which was rich and creamy, epitomizing dessert perfection. The presentation of each dish was meticulous, reflecting a commitment to not only flavor but also visual appeal.
The staff's attentiveness further enhanced the experience as they were eager to accommodate our every need. Arelita Authentic Cuban Food stands out as a premier destination for Cuban cuisine in Colorado Springs, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone seeking an authentic...
