At first, the stylist was polite and kind since my friend is a returning customer. Boy did that change fast. The stylist's first mistake was not going over her decision for a hair color to do in my friends hair. That's right, her decision not my friends; the stylist picked out a colour and went right to work without getting validation it was something she wanted. Anyone with common sense should know that problems will ensue if you're doing something as big as coloring a persons hair without double checking that that's the colour they want. Needless to say, the actions committed were bizarre, and the end results were as expected, my friend (the paying customer) was displeased. This made sense considering the color the stylist selected was a bright honeydew which lay on its own end of the colour wheel, far from the colors in her hair. Due to the stylists incompetency, she had 5 colors going on in her hair- far from ideal. After her initial shock over how terrible it looked she asked the stylist to fix the mistake by getting rid of the horrendous colour pallet she'd created on her head, to which the stylist responded in a haughty attitude. I'd also like to add that rather than have the owner walk over and give his input on the hair, they forced her to galavant all over the salon with wet hair and the poncho still attached. Probably one of the most unethical things I have ever seen. The stylist also did not want to correct her mistake, adamant that she was right while my friend was not. In her anger over having to relent and fix the mistake (she should have been more than willing to do, seeing as it is her job & above all, as I've been taught, the customer is always right) she threw a hissy fit and made the process emotional and discourteously inept. Two very unnecessary behaviours. I watched in horror and dismay as she slammed the foil onto her head and smeared the color on it huffing, puffing, and rolling her eyes all the while as she rushed through a 40min process cutting her time in half as she sloppily did her job. I am going to disclose that I ended up recording the entire process having taken enough of her actual abuse to my friend for, and I'll stress this again, doing the job she messed up on. I was horrified that the stylist had brought my friend to tears & that she was forced to sit there waiting while the stylist would go in back several times to vent out her anger. My friend didn't need to sit in a hard chair for prolonged periods of time while the woman dove in back for a pity party. This was the woman I wanted to get my hair done with, but as a first timer getting my hair done what if I didn't like the outcome? Would she get angry and start abusing me if I wanted it fixed? It was stupendously abhorrent behaviour over having to do ones job! The stylist gave my friend a quick scrub of the head, then refused to blow dry it. My friend had to leave the salon with a wet bun she had to do herself because the stylist wanted no more. Later we would realise that the stylists actions made sense since because as my friend’s hair dried, the outcome was still awful and not what she had asked for. So yes, the stylist covered up her job so she wouldn't have to fix it again. At the end of this heinous affair, my friend politely and emotionally tried to plead with the stylist telling her it was unfair how she had treated her and that it should not have been like this (I'll disclose that the conversation was recorded). The stylist remained churlish refusing to apologise for her behaviour and actions. The amount of unprofessionalism, the horrid attitude, and terrible end results were enough. I will not be going here to do my hair, and my friend is now having to live with the mess ups until she can go to another salon to fix the damage done at the hands of the...
Read moreEveryone was nice but the place looked dirty, the work was sloppy, and I was charged almost double what I was quoted.
My hairdresser Jeannine (sp?) rushed to dye my hair leaving dye spots all over my face cheek and even chin. Globs of the dye fell onto the apron over and over again. She then tells me that I have “more hair than it looks like” and she needs to get more dye. I looked at my shoulder and saw a huge glob of dye just left there. It should be noted that my hair Is very thin and I do not have a lot. I have so little hair I am unable to make a bun. To give you an idea: the total sum of my hair balled up is no bigger than a golf ball. I have never been told I have a lot of hair and need more dye. Most stylists usually comment on how easy my hair is because I do not have a lot. The only think I can say is that she did cut my hair correctly and the color was accurate. It just would have been better if it wasn’t all over my face.
The place was also filthy. In one area you can see the stone holding the large mirrors up and the baseboard surrounding it. Between the stone and baseboard is (what looks to be) years of hair clippings stuck there. Random Hairs were all over their station with the tools. The windows also looked like they had not been washed in weeks.
Finally came the bill for her work. I was quoted 80 on the phone for and all over color and cut. I was then told by her that it would be 150. When I asked why she said it was because she had to use protectant and had to cut my hair. She never told me during the experience that I was going to be charged more than I was quoted. Furthermore, their website said something like 55 for an all over color. So somehow, after tip, I had to pay twice what I was quoted. Probably should not have tipped but they do not make it a private experience with the hair dresser looking at you.
The only reason I would give this place a star was that I do like my hair but all the negatives do not make up for it. If they had a cleaner place, were straight forward with their pricing, and were less sloppy with their work. I do not recommend going here and wonder if other people had better experiences with a...
Read moreI wasn't going to write this review because they did give me my money back but after 3 almost 4 months of living with the worst haircut I've ever had in my entire life I decided to so that hopefully it saves someone else. Back in May, right before summer, right before a big vacation I went to Janine for a haircut. I asked for curtain bangs and layers. What I ended up with was horrid and 3 almost 4 months later I still can not do anything with my hair as it is STILL growing out. That is how short she cut the bangs and layers. I never asked for them that short. My friends described it as looking like I had a mullet. All summer I have had to wear my hair up because I literally can not do anything with it. It literally looks like I have a mullet STILL!! I am traumatized of ever going and getting a haircut and asking for curtain bangs and ending up with a mullet. She cut like half of the crown of my head into bangs. I can't speak for the other stylists but I do not recommend going to her at the very least. I appreciate that they gave my money back but i spent over a year growing my hair and getting it healthy just for half of it to be chopped into her version of curtain bangs. The fact that 3, 4 months later I'm doing my hair and still regretting the day I went there for haircut speaks volumes....
