We first saw this establishment on Diners Drive In’s and Dives when we first came into town in Colorado Springs. The food looked good and we found ourself looking for a place to eat. We were about an hour away so we called to ask about reservations and to ask if they were busy. The lady who answered was off putting, when she answered she said it was first come first serve, which was fine and when I asked if it was busy she said “Um yeah we have a full house” they also closed at 3 and we weren’t going to get there until about 1:45. We decided to try anyway, they only had seating outside which was fine. We were sat and the only ones outside. A couple minutes later a table of three had sat on the opposite side of the patio. They were helped and had their drinks before anyone had even said a word to us. I had to go inside and ask someone to help us. They said they’d be right with us and a couple minutes later a lady came up to us and said that her manager had cut her and then made her take our eight top. Which was weird to us considering they were still a “full house.” She was nice at first, but then she got more rude during our time here. The food was good and the main reason for 2 stars rather than 1. The last straw was when our waitress came and asked us how everything was, it was good but one of our kids needed a refill on a soda. She took the drink inside and then we saw her go out the back door and smoke a cigarette and count money. There was also a no smoking sign right by the ramp that she was smoking by. She then went inside and immediately brought the coke back, we weren’t sure if she washed her hands or not. She was still rude even when we were leaving. The food was good but despite poor, poor service I don’t know if I would recommend this place to anyone.

After parking on the street, walk in and wait to be seated, at this quaint blue house with wooden floors below tables surrounded by black metal chairs that have wooden seats (close to the floor grain) in Old Colorado City. The white textured walls with gray baseboards, doorframes and window trim, all look freshly painted and are adorned with fun signs: "What if the hokey pokey is what it's all about?" and "I love you more than bacon." Children's menus are available, along with black and wooden highchairs. On the table you will find a metal basket containing syrup, real sugar and sugar alternatives, ketchup, Cholula, salt and pepper. The sink area in the bathroom would use a face-lift, but I love the fun faucet placement (in the corner). The women's bathroom afords two stalls and a changing station; though it is a little tight getting around the carts that home outside the restrooms. A lot of natural light comes in through the bathroom windows and ADA bars are found in the first stall. Our waitress Sarah was wearing a tank that said "Where the L♡cals Eat" ....you pay your server at the table, after a handwritten ticket is presented. From crispy bacon to their well known cinnamon rolls (not as sweet as most cinnamon rolls and big enough to share), go on by with the family, on a date or to enjoy a meal in the corner with a good book.

Kasie,

I stand by every word of my review which I posted solely for you to read in the hope you would understand what took place and do what you could to avoid it from happening again.

You can villify me for my reaction. However, I had nothing to do with placing a newly hired 15 year old girl in an impossible situation (expected to bus, serve, and seat guests) without the instruction needed to inform customers or understand she doesn't need to bus every table before seating customers who have been waiting for 10 minutes.

I have worked at a restaurant (since you suggested otherwise) and eaten at thousands ... and I've never encountered one utilizing a host station and leaving it completely unattended for 10-15 minutes while multiple customers were waiting to be seated.

I did not know she was 15 and regret my reaction. From 3 other reviews, her meltdown appears to have involved much more than me. I'm happy to hear of the extra tips and will even throw in $20 myself if you provide a venmo account I can use and see that she gets it.

Now that you have at least read my perspective, I will delete the review if you wish whether you make any concession or not. No need to worry about me returning. Make it better ... for others, please.

Original post -

Unfortunately, I can't rate the food as we were asked to leave. Upon arrival, I stood by the vacant host station where signs instructed us to wait to be seated. I was there for 5-6 minutes with no staff being anywhere near the station. Finally, a young girl walked by me with drinks in hand. She apologized and said she'd be right wth me. After a few more minutes serving drinks and bussing a couple outdoor tables, she again walked by apologizing. No explanation of what to expect ... just "really sorry." At this point, I asked another server if she could seat us. I was told no as there was a hostess assigned to that leaving me to assume it was the younger girl who had walked by twice before. Shortly, after that, she walked by a third time saying, "I'm really sorry" only to resume bussing more tables. I followed her out and said, "Really, you're gonna keep bussing tables when people are waiting to be seated? There were multiple clean tables at this point. She quickly became upset and started crying. I told her we were just going to sit at one of the clean tables. Admittedly, I was quite frustrated at this point.

Another server then asked if there was anything she could do to make our experience better. She apologized and told us the food was worth the wait. I assured her we were fine, just didn't understand why we couldn't have been seated even if it would be awhile before being served.

By this time, a guy made some critical comment drawing the applause of other customers. I don't know what he said, but he proceeded to make a crusade of the incident telling me I should apologize after I already had insisting I was not sincere. He went in to talk to the manager or owner who then asked us to leave without even hearing our side of the story. The irony? The crusader behind all this had seated himself (without waiting) at one of the tables that was bussed while we waited for someone ... anyone ... to seat us. Wow!

I don't expect they have cameras set up, but I hope they will review and make some changes after verifying my account. This young girl was set up for failure having to bus, serve and being the only person to seat customers.

Everyone raves about the food. Sorry to have missed out. Mother Muffs proved to be a...

Called this establishment to see if they could accommodate our large party for breakfast on a Monday morning. Was told it was first come first serve which I understand. I arrived early in hopes that they could at least try to accommodate us if possible. Don’t know the hostesses name (somewhat young and Hispanic with a slight accent) but I walk in and tell her we have a very large party. She proceeds to tell me she’ll go talk to her manager and see what they can do. She comes back up and says the best they can do is seat us at 4 tables of 4, ok fine. Nothing else was said at all and I wait for 20 minutes. While I’m waiting she and another girl make a sign in front of me and post it on the door that reads something like” all of your party must be here in order to be seated”. She never said that to me or said how long the wait would be. Some of my family shows up and we wait a little longer. After walking through the restaurant we quickly realize not only are they not even trying to set aside tables but there is no way they can fit all of us. My niece says to the hostess, “is this going to work because it’s very small back there”? Hostess says”probably won’t work because it is small and you have such a large party”. I basically said “you couldn’t have told me that 25 minutes ago?” “I’ve been sitting here waiting and not one word has been said to me”. She basically was like sorry for ya. I finally just said “we’ll go elsewhere” and she simply said “ok” I know this is long but seriously train your staff to communicate and be upfront with customers. Her lackluster attitude sucks and she ruined my families take on this well known local establishment. You can thank your hostess for us never...
