I'm starting to get the feeling that if a restaurant needs to promote itself via Groupon, there's something "off" about it. In this case, the service was horrible and the food was "meh".
The service: We showed up at about 6:45 last night to a completely empty restaurant, and the waiter seemed upset that we were there. We requested a patio seat, which also seemed to bother the waiter since he'd already closed up the umbrellas and stacked the chairs. He told us to sit wherever - and it was left up to us to unstack chairs and open our own umbrella. I ordered a margarita, which was small but pretty decent, and my husband just stuck with water. We were never offered refills during our entire stay. At around 7:15, the waiter finally returned to tell us that they were closing at 7:30. He was clearly implying that we better hurry up and leave. It's one thing to say, "Hey folks, our kitchen will be closing soon, so if you'd like to try anything else out, let me know soon." His message was, "We're closing at 7:30, so you can't get anything else."
The food: We ordered tapas, and were first informed that about half of the things on the menu weren't available. We got a tapas sampler with four different selections on small pieces of toast. All of the vegetables clearly came from jars, and the shrimp seemed like the kind you get frozen at King Soopers with the tail still on. We also ordered chips and salsa. The chips were clearly Tostitos out of the bag. Gross. We also tried the taquitos - which were just some corn tortillas with shredded pork inside. The pork wasn't flavored at all. I feel like this is the type of food that might be okay if you were stopping by a relative's graduation party... not a restaurant.
The owner stopped in while we were finishing our meal and asked us about our experience. I was very honest about how disappointed we were, and he did nothing to try to make our experience better. He just said, "google us, people love us," then went inside and awkwardly chastised his staff while we were still there.
We won't be going back. As another reviewer has stated: this is some great real estate, right next to Bancroft park, and it's wasted on a terrible restaurant. Every other dining experience we've had in Colorado Springs has been great, so there's no reason to ever...
Read moreI rarely give bad reviews, but this might have been the worst dining service I can remember in the past 20 years. We came here because the bbq place next door had a long wait, and we really didn't want to wait it out there. Boy was that a huge mistake! Some friends were graciously treating us to dinner, so we suggested this place since it was so close and we had a decent experience here several months ago on the patio. After ordering, we waited for over 30 minutes and the waiter finally came out with two of the four meals. He told us the kitchen was having some issues, and said it might be a bit until the other dishes came out. My wife and I felt we should wait to eat until the other meals were served, and if you can believe it, it was another at least 20 to 30 minutes until the 3rd dish came out, tho they did bring out some more chips and salsa. Now three of us were waiting for the fourth dish. They came back out at least 10 minutes later with a small appetizer for the 4th person to eat while they waited, and about 10 minutes later the fourth dish finally arrived. You can imagine the first three meals were stone cold, and we were not willing to try and risk what might happen if we sent them back to be re-heated. Other tables seemed to be struggling to get served too - it was not the servers, it was definitely the kitchen. We're not complainer types, and I was curious what they might do to make things right. They offered 10% off the meal. Needless to say, we will never be back, nor will our...
Read moreI had been to this place several times with our biker buddies when we would go for rides. Never had a bad experience until yesterday. The owner had my child in absolute tears! We were walking around the area when all of a sudden my son needed to use the restroom. The porta potties were closed so we walked to a place that had previously been a warm and friendly place. I was going to buy my kids some of the deserts that I have enjoyed on one of my many stops. I walked my son and daughter in looking for someone to ask if it was ok if they could use the restroom. No one around. My son was hurting and I told him to go into the restroom and I went out front to wait while my daughter waited for her brother. Imagine my surprise when I hear the owner THREATENED MY CHILDREN if they did not get out at that moment he was calling the cops. My 10 & 13 year old were both in tears because of this man. I would understand if there was a sign that said no public restrooms which there was none I looked. I even walked around LOOKING FOR ANYONE to ask before I allowed him to. So to the owner, if you read this, you lost my business and you lost my respect and you did a damn good job of teaching my kids how cruel people...
