My father would take me here as a little kid to the infamous "Stagecoach." Like many of us growing up in the Springs, this park is a small slice of home on the westside. It was great to see so many different people out having a good time & always friendly. Park playground equipment looks seemingly well kept. I'm a bit disappointed that there's a lot of small, discarded pieces of debris, plastics & trash on the grass. If I were regularly visiting, I would contact the Management of whomever cleans, tends to the safety upkeep of Thorndale Park. A request needs to comb through the grass to remove everything that can/could/will cut skin. Parks are made to be crawling with kids from all ages & family pets as well. The rollout bin has several disguarded doggie poop bags on & around it.... So people appear to be making somewhat of an effort to clean up after their dogs, however I'm curious as to why they were not simply thrown into a park trash can? I DO love this park.... It's a part of my life where many celebrated birthdays occurred. I hope the next time we visit, the ground is picked up a bit better. I believe that if every one person picked up anything needed to be placed in the trash cans, the task of having a safe place to walk barefoot with your pet(s) would exist ASAP. It's a big world, we all need to pitch in....
Read moreThorndale Park is awesome! There's so many big shadey trees. There's a great picnic area with which I believe you can reserve. They're also non covered tree shaded picnic tables all over the Park area. It was really cool to see everybody come out for lunch and picnic there. It felt safe. There's a really cute playground and it's really fun for the kids and a great open field for letting the dogs run. As long as your dog is well behaved you shouldn't have an issue with fetching them in there. There's a cute baseball diamond where you can play kickball or baseball. You will really enjoy this Park located just north of Old Colorado City. The bathrooms are not open so plan to drive to a 7-Eleven or something if you need to use the restroom. No 🚻 available. There is parking along all sides of the park as it's right in the middle of a...
Read moreThis is one of the first parks we came to when we first moved to the area last year. My husband met someone with the parks department that cares for the parks and was honored to be one of the few people who painted the wonderful Colorado logos on the basketball court. Him being a basketball player made it even better. We frequently go and play ball. The kids part of the park is great. Huge area to play with your dogs. Public restroom and baseball field. Unfortunately the tennis courts are locked up due to reconstruction but they will be great...
