So let me say in preface, this isn't the fault of the individuals in question... What not everyone has realized yet is that Colorado Springs is at a Crisis point in the the fight against homelessness, and the newest members of the family are a large group of folks, mostly in their 20s and 30s, who are being forced to live in their vehicles due to the ridiculous cost of living combined with the attempted gentrification of our older neighborhood's. Wagner has been affected by this more than pretty much any other place in The Springs. If you were hoping for the quiet neighborhood park from 2015, that place is gone, but it's still well cared for, the grass is nice and it's a beautiful spot, just take the new residents into account, though they almost exclusively only appear after dark, and even then tend to keep to...
Read moreJune 12th 2024 my fiance's body was discovered at this spot in the raveen next to Wagner Park. It took me until yesterday August 17th to go explore the area in search of a sign. Apon my journey this cemet slab drew me to it two separate occasions and I could not figure out why. I was getting ready to leave the area after having sat for some time, thinking and remembering him when I walked to the edge and looked down. That's when I noticed this journal with his last name on it. I quickly then realized this was most likely where they found him. I am so sad for his family that no longer can cherish his physical form and I am blessed that he led me there that day so I may make my peace with his passing. Praise the Lord. Read moreThe park is very well maintained. The playground is in good condition, and the basketball courts are also in great condition. The picnic tables are a little rough and could be fixed or replaced.
Update: This park is great, but unfortunately there are starting to be some homeless individuals that are using tents and also living in their vehicles next to the park which makes me a little less comfortable with my children wandering too...
