Perkins American Food Co. — Restaurant in Colorado Springs

Cleanliness is not important here unfortunately. This was the second time I've eaten here and had a gross out experience each time. The first time I ate there was shortly after they reopened after they had been gone from Colorado for quite a few years. At that visit I had dirty utensils, crusty food left on them. I decided that it must be part of the reopening process as they get used to doing things and figured it was just an off day. The food was decent but having the dirty utensils was definitely a icky thing for me. I did not use the restroom during that first visit so I do not know the condition of it at that time, if I had seen then what I saw today I never would have gone back.

I took my mother there for lunch today and right away noticed a large lettuce leaf under our table from the previous customer. My mother ordered coffee and the cup had a large amount of egg on the outside of it. I touched it because I thought maybe it was just a pattern on the cup and quickly realized it was egg. I told the waitress and she gave my mother an apology and another cup. Unfortunately, it didn't occur to me to take a picture of the cup before I handed it off to the waitress. The next cup had a coffee ring inside of it, which I carefully wiped out while my mother wasn't looking. I figured at 85 years old and using a walker to get around, it was much quicker and easier to just clean the cup than it would have been to ask her to get in the car and go to a different restaurant. However, after seeing the bathroom after we ate, I wish I had done exactly that. I have seen cleaner bathrooms in rest stops and truck stops on the freeways across the country than I did in this restaurant. If I had seen that before we got our food we would have walked out immediately. My first thought was, if this is how clean they keep the things we do see, then how dirty are the areas, like the kitchen, where we can't see? I'm incredibly grossed out by this restaurant and I will NEVER return there again!

Seriously, pass this one up people. There are far too many choices of other places to eat in...

Extremely disappointed in our service and overall visit tonight. My husband and I went in around 5pm with our 4 children (party of 6). There were maybe 2-3 other tables occupied total in the restaurant so we figured service would be swift and excellent like it was the two prior times we visited this location and from all of the other Perkin's restaurants we've had the pleasure of visiting in the United States. We were very wrong. Sodas/water came out quickly and our waitress was quite friendly but our service was beyond slow for them to be slow (little to no other patrons in the restaurant besides our party). Our drinks remained empty for quite some time. Took well over 40 minutes for our food to be delivered and most of it was still cold (including the extremely small servings of scrambled eggs). My Pot Roast Melt sandwich was beyond disappointing. lacking flavor/seasoning and melt. Little to no cheese at all...Even the grilled cheese sandwich had little to no cheese and absolutely no pull. Should've been called a grilled bread🥴. Attempted to order the Loaded Baked Potato Soup and while it was still on the menu, apparently it's discontinued and they no longer serve it 😶. And finally, when I went to pay the tab and order two servings of NY Cheesecake my kids so desperately wanted to try despite the already bad food/service, I was told they only had it "frozen". Extremely disappointed is an understatement. I normally tip a minimum of 25-30%... today I tipped 18%... and that was me being generous. Please do better. You're definitely not delivering the service or producing the food that Perkin's...

Came in today with my grandma for a nice lunch and we were highly disappointed. Originally we came to Perkins for the free pie but we were mistaken as it is on Mondays our fault ha! When we entered we were sat immediately and waited over 10 minutes to even see our server. Same as the first time we saw her we waited several more minutes for our drinks and I had to let her know we were ready to order or else we wouldn’t have been able to order for longer than we anticipated. My grandma ordered the fish and chips which comes with a salad and fries and I ordered the chicken strips with a baked potato and grilled asparagus. We didn’t receive our meal for a while longer we thought the salad would’ve came out first but it was the last thing to come out! I was very excited about my asparagus only to once again be very disappointed as my grilled asparagus was cold, and guess what the solution was, instead of remaking it my waitress came over with a plate and asked ME to put it on the plate so she can reheat it! Which made it even worse because it came back extremely soggy! Not only was my grandma and I disappointed at our experience but we were sat in a little back room by a server station and the reason for that was because every other table we could’ve sat at was dirty and continued to stay dirty even when we left they were still dirty, during the end of our time a CUSTOMER started to clean up the section we were in! How bizarre! Wish this place and the server is just having an off day because that was not what my grandma and I wanted...
