I've driven past the Red Dolly many times, noticing their "$7.99 prime rib dinner" sign. Tonight, we decided to give the restaurant a try. We weren't there for the casino this evening. What a nice surprise! First off, don't expect a lot of ambiance. It opens up above the cozy casino and has a couple large screen TVs playing football on the wall. It kind of has a small cafeteria feel. The menu is pretty limited but sufficient. I don't eat prime rib. My partner does though and it he really liked it. I didn't notice much fat and it was a substantial size. With a baked potato and plain side veggie, it was a good sized dinner. I had a mushroom Swiss burger and it was excellent. Was definitely a hand shaped, thick burger and the mushrooms were grilled fresh, not the rubbery canned ones some restaurants offer. I also ordered a bowl of green chili. It's more of a New Mexico style with tomitillos, than Colorado green chili. It was very good with a bit of a kick to it. Saved a few spoons for the top of my burger. Wise choice! The service was good. Our waitress was a little aprubt. She certainly wasn't one of those who is going to sit next to you and write "Nancy" or whatever her name is, on the tablecloth. Yet she was very efficient. Refilled our pops numerous times and quickly delivered requests like a side or ranch dressing or a piece of pie. The other thing I appreciated is our food came out piping hot. Finally, their prices are fair. So many restaurants now have way overdone it with their price hikes. Example, I ordered regular old chicken fried rice at a Chinese place in suburban Denver last weekend and was shocked it was $17.00! Red Dolly is comfortable, reasonably priced, and serves good quality food. I was pleasantly surprised and will be going back. I bet their...
Read moreWho else calls it The Rag Doll?? - I go in here about 3 times a year to eat usually only if someone asks me to go with them. All the employees inside are always in a bad mood and everything is dirty or sticky. No, I don't want to go sit on a sticky chair & press sticky buttons on a .50 machine, falsely advertised as a .1 machine, which leaves you with a useless .45 voucher. I always tip my angry waitress 30% regardless of where I eat. - So today I decided to get a carry out order for The Prime Rib Dinner 6.99 well, no, now it's 9.99 but ALL the components of the prime rib dinner are already ready when ya walk in the building. So, it's 5:30 pm and there's 4 guys in there eating (not busy at all) and I inquire about my to-go and of corse she had no idea (10 minutes already wasted) so I wasted another 10 minutes sitting in a nasty 70 year old sticky chair and pressed those sticky buttons on their .1 slot with a .50 minimum play, and got up and stood there for another 30 minutes before I got mad & went to town and got a quality burger from a real restaurant. AGAIN, ALL the components of The Prine Rib Dinner are ALL ready to serve immediately upon entry and I waited 40 minutes...
Read more7/2/22- The reason we tried this place is because it was recommended by a friend who raved about their prime rib. The problem with this place is that their restaurant is on the second floor and they have no elevator. This place is not ADA friendly in the least and I have no idea how they have not gotten in trouble legally for this. Their "way" around this is they have one table set up between the slot machines and cashier where they can bring food. Eating at this table is awarkward as he'll and everyone keeps looking at you. We tried it because we were hungry and I wanted to give the food a chance since my friend had talked so much about it. Yes you do get a good amount of food for the money, but the cut of prime rib was the worst one I have ever had. Yes you should expect some grissel, but some parts of the fat were as hard as plastic and I kept having to spit out pieces, and remember I was having to do this in full public view. This was one of not only my worst eating experiences ever, but also one of my worst casino experiences ever. This place really needs to be shut down, rebuilt and new cooks put in place. NOT...
