We got to the Saratoga through a neighbor's recommendation for the Main Street Cafe, which is located on the third floor of the building. The whole experience was outstanding. The first thing I noticed was the renovation of the historic building. The casino rooms are huge and look like they came out of the most affluent times of the 1880's in Colorado. I could have taken an hour just looking at the photographs on the walls of the Cafe.
We enjoyed lunch at the Main Street Cafe. The server was friendly, effusive, and professional. I enjoyed the Cubano, which the server told me is his favorite sandwich, and my partner's burger looked really good. He reported it tasted really good, too. The onion rings were perfect. It was a beautiful day, and the staff had opened a window to let in the mountain breeze. It was a memorable experience all the way around.
We like the old penny reel machines, which are being phased out in many casinos. I was told it's impossible to get parts for them anymore. I'd estimate they have 20 of those old clunkers, and there was a large group of us old clunkers playing them. I broke even, maybe up a little, but I played for at least 90 mins and had a great time.
The staff is cordial, professional, and they politely responded to my lame sense of humor.
We didn't know Saratoga has a parking garage, so we parked in the Gilpin lot across the street. It's valet parking, which we prefer, but my neighbor reports they always use the Saratoga garage, somewhat weird to navigate, just like any parking garage.
Bottom line, it was a perfect way to spend some time in old...
Read moreThe service here sucks. Some are fine like, June, Kerry, Maria, Nadia/Natalie (drink girl), and a few others whoms names I can't think of at the moment, but one of the waitresses named Christina, the red head, seems to be upset or irritated because I placed a to go order right before closing and ever since has been very standoffish and rude. I'm a Diamond member and sometimes can't even get a drink for more than 30 minutes or more at a time depending who the drink girl is. Also I specifically ask for top shelf and have been given house liquor even though I have a players card level that entitles me to top shelf. I am very generous when I win jackpots and tip every time I'm brought a drink even if it's a bottle of water and feel like I'm not given respect and shown any courstesy for my loyalty here, which I have spent well over $10,000 this year alone in less than 6 months to make Diamond status, almost Diamond Preferred now. The valet guy, big one, had the audacity to tell at me because I scanned my ticket and then decided to go back in and play for another hour or so. There's no way to cancel a request and I decided I wanted to stay. Didnt think it was crime and now it feels like if I want to go back in I can't in fear of being glared at or scolded again. Amongst other issues or incidents which Kerry is aware of, I am finding it difficult to see any reason to remain loyal to this casino when there are so many other options literally down the street. I don't expect to be treated like royalty but to at least be shown respect and treated like a welcome guest and not a nuisance or...
Read moreI don't normally give bad reviews.
I was never asked if I would like a drink at any of the 5 casinos, 2 in Blackhawk and 3 in Central City. And only saw 1 waitress running by me while serving alot of other people. And I think I caught a bug in ether Blackhawk or Central City in one of 5 casinos, on September 12th. I had not been out of my house except for doctor visits, since the COVID-19 came Colorado. I am a high risk and have always worn a mask outside, even in my backyard. It started with the room spinning on the 17th of September. Then vomiting for 3 days and being forced to go to the hosptal twice for re hydration, and nausea medicine. My Doctors could not find any flu or byproducts or any answer to why I was vomiting for 3 days. I am writing this to warn people that the towns need to make sure EVERYTHING is sanitized, do surprise inspections, which clearly they had...
