The Gilpin Casino — Attraction in Black Hawk

I've been coming here for years with my family. This is usually our first stop when we go up to gamble. We come to the restaurant upstairs because of the room and usually they have room to accommodate big groups. Unfortunately, our last visit was a letdown. We had a group of 9 that was split into 3 different tables with groups of max 4 per table. The problem was that there was plenty of room to move some table around and split the group in 2 instead of 3, it has been done many times before. On top of that we split the bill in 2, and when we got our checks they showed a total amount without tip included. Naturally, we left a cash tip on the table and left to pay the cashier. When the ticket was entered into the register, a different amount came up. When they asked the waitress why the amounts were different on the check, she said it was because the paty was more than 6. This person was double tipt and I just couldn't go back to the table and get my cash tip back. Maby in the future we will return to the Gilpin. Thanks...

Went down to Blackhawk to celebrate my 21st birthday, every casino I went to were friendly and fun but when me and my family got to the Gilpin we went straight to the free photo booth, the lady that checked my ID let us know that it was on the fritz which was fine we tried multiple times and did get our pictures. However after getting our pictures the manager I believe and security guard told me I wouldnt be served anything to drink and I wasn't allowed to play the machines because they said I was too intoxicated. Everyone I was with had drank way more than me and I hadn't had a drink for 2 hours, I didn't even ask for a drink they stopped me right at the photo booth. I was so excited to get to go have fun with the family and because we were having a good time and laughing they acted as if I was super drunk when I haven't had a drink and just wanted to celebrate. Here for new years but wish I hadn’t picked this casino and now it’s too late. I was playing some slots waiting for the drinks person to come by and an hour or two without no one I decided to go to the nearest bar. I was told by the bartender that since he was the only one working the bar it was ok to order drinks there and just tip so I did. The second time I went up he wasn’t at the bar and knowing I had seen a second bar less busy on the other side… I walked to it but the man working that bar told me he would have to see me playing or charge me. I explained to him the situation of me being on the other side and that I was told no staff was walking around. But he insisted on his stance and was rude about it.
