Absolutely love this casino/hotel! Rocker Decor and clean medium-sized playing floor. Amazing room offers as well as a Stay and Play opportunity after 1000 points. Starbucks in the Z Cafe downstairs offers wide selection of drinks, I love their hot teas and if you're a Flame member you get one free drink a day! Z cafe downstairs also has Great late night snacks: I love their street tacos and their pepperoni pizza. Staff down there is always sooo cool & nice! Great breakfast special before 11AM in the diner upstairs especially if you earn enough points to get it comped. Wait staff in diner is always friendly and accomadating. I have not had the opportunity to eat at the Grand Bistro--unfortunately, the $12 food comp does not begin to cover the exorbitant prices at this particular steakhouse. Great selection of video poker at the upstairs guitar bar. We love the bartenders too, especially Anthony, who is polite and friendly and makes the best Cuba Libre in Central City! Free play is not the best around town, but the slots have been fairly "loose" and video poker progressives have paid out fine. (Gambling is gambling you know?) Fun and lively atmosphere, especially on Friday and Saturday when they have live entertainment in a lovely lounge area with a great stage with awesome sound system and lighting. Last weekend, we saw a Stevie Nicks cover band that was phenomenal!!! Just great vibes! My only note: Grand Z could offer some better free giveaway items compared to other casinos in town. Hotel rooms are fairly new and well appointed. The added safety feature on the hotel elevator that requires a room key to access hotel floors is a little annoying but I understand and appreciate the necessity. Beds are firm, sheets are soft, and lots of pillows to choose from. I have never found the rooms to be anything but spotless! Housekeeping is excellent. No noise complaints, and although you can hear activity on the hallway pretty clearly, all the guests are fairly respectful and windows are well insulated. Bathrooms are small, but very efficient. Water pressure from showerheads is dreamy. If you need a curling iron or an ice pack, you can get one down at the front desk too. Front desk service is usually efficient and professional.

We came here to celebrate my birthday! The location and view is amazing! The room was disgusting. There was something hard and gross stuck to the fitted sheet of the bed. It was 2:30am before we got to our room from gambling when we found this. I laid down and felt this hard thing under the sheet and when I went to look it was stuck to the sheet above it as well. Since it was so late, we didn’t know there would be someone to fix this so we laid on top of all the sheets and stayed to one side. I was very grossed out. Went down to the desk in the morning and told them what happened and showed them the picture. We got we will move your room and give you a better view for the issue we had. Our current room was a view of the parking garage. Great! The lady said come back around 12-1pm and we will get you fixed up. Came back right before 1pm and there was an entirely different attitude. I got “. They changed the sheets, you’re staying in the same room”. That’s it?? When I said something about how horrible our night was to sleep with that it didn’t matter. “They changed the sheets” is what we kept getting! Great birthday weekend for me! Don’t waste your almost 500 dollars for 2 nights at this hotel. Motel 5 might be better!

I am writing about the hotel, not so much the casino. I am not much of a gambler, but will say the casino looked pretty nice. Had at least one craps table that I saw and a couple of blackjack tables. There were slot type games everywhere - I can't imagine a person would need any more! The location is kind of below Central City, but a quick walk gets you there. Black Hawk is kind of a far walk, but I think some hotels offer a shuttle, maybe even this one, I just didn't need it. As far as the hotel, we both thought it was quite nice. The room was big and clean, maybe just remodeled (?). Very nice. Big fridge, safe in the closet for all of your winnings :) The bar was nice - I did spend a bit of time there. The bartender was a great guy and we did eat one meal at "The Grill". Service there was good and for $8.99 I had the all-you-can-eat soup and salad bar which was delish. Not the biggest Casino in the area, but a nice place all the same. On most weekends I think they have live music - I was there during the week, however.

I can't really give an honest good review because of the following factors. I will say because of the phone experience and then the experience I had with supposed manager of the hotel. Well has made me NOT want choose there a establishment to stay when going up the hill, which is sad because my mother and my self were frequent flyers of Fortune valley. We had a friend of ours who was going to be leaving out of town and we're not for sure when we're going to see him again. We decided to meet him halfway and we chose Central City Blackhawk to stay out for the evening to say our goodbyes. No don't get me wrong I'm not heartless I understand accidents happened and let me be clear I was very concerned about the bus that tipped over I made sure that nobody was hurt that everybody was okay I even asked to make sure that all employees had a safe place to stay at. I had called to book my free room that I had with green z hotel and casino when a lady named Mary Kay answered the hotel desk. Mind you I have been to this establishment 1 other time and I was on edge oh how I'd like it. As you guessed it Mary Kay helped me out the first time with getting me my players card. She couldn't answer any questions that I had it made it seem like I was being a nuisance and I was bothering her even though she was supposed to be doing her job. I just tried to shut it off try to make you laugh a little bit that obviously didn't happen and just went about my night I wasn't going to think too much about it but first impressions not great. So imagine my surprise when Mary Kate answers the phone for the hotel. Mary Kay let me know that it was snowing really bad that's a roads were really bad. And I probably wouldn't be able to get up there. To me and my husband, it sounded like she was trying to talk us out of coming up. She then goes quiet and I can hear talking in the background I say hello a couple times. No answer 2 minutes go by and she says hello. I even responded back with hello. She's in proceeds to tell me that a bus tipped over and it's blocking entrance and exit from Central City to Blackhawk Colorado and they don't know how long it's going to be blocked off for so they're not taking reservations and I shouldn't come up tonight. I then proceeded to say I hope everybody is okay I hope nobody's hurt I will discuss this with my husband and call you back. I waited a good 10 minutes to make sure that if people on the bus needed to get rooms or what not that they were taking care of first and because Mary Kay seemed very flustered at that point I didn't want to not have her full attention. When I call back of course Mary Kay answers again. She then proceeded to tell me that they're all booked up for the night that she told me that the road was blocked and that there's no way in or out of Central City which in fact I know that's a lie because you can go up i-70 through Idaho springs to get to Central City without even going through Blackhawk. That's neither here or there. Is it nice to talk to my manager because she is just very rude telling me what I should and shouldn't do being very short with me telling me she's not going to a girl for me and then asked me to the manager and she tells me that he went to bed already. I thought that was quite odd she then said I don't have time for this and hung up on me. Customer service for 20-plus years. I've seen businesses crumbled to the ground because of bad employees because of employees who don't do there job and have horrible attitudes. My husband and I eventually made her way up the mountain. We got up a bonanza by 8:00 so we're here early. I make my way to the green sea hotel and asked to speak to my manager. Now if this is your manager I really hope this is just a shift manager for your guys's sake because not only did he lie to me. Saying that he was there when I talked to Mary Kay both times when he wasn't and I caught him red-handed in the LIE. By his look his demeanor his attitude he made it known that he didn't care that this woman was rude to his customers he didn't care that...

Advice from a local guide? Don't stay here!

Free Parking Garage=People down on their luck living in their cars in the garage, getting free drinks, discount meals, AC & bathrooms inside, others passed out with their dogs in the car, and no security anywhere. Single ladies, it's sketchy, so bring protection or do yourself a favor and don't go.

Confusing if it's your 1st time here. Maps are useless and don't show you where you're at to orient yourself. Staff is nowhere to be found.

Check-in, we were greeted with a sign instead of a human at 6pm, that said they'd be back soon. So we waited till a girl came running up to check us in, she seemed exhausted, burnt out & didn't want to be there. We checked in too late on Tues to cancel our 2nd day & get a refund so we were stuck.

Room was ok, it was clean, spacious & at the end of the hall on the top floor, so it was quiet. No seating besides the bed and 1 desk chair; the bed had permanent indentations from the prior guests who had no seating. King size bed w/a queen size mattress pad and fitted sheets w/out elastic, so if you moved you touched the gross, bare mattress. AC works well, but blows out dust/dirt when you turn on the fan.

$15/day resort fee, No table games on weekdays, no vegetarian food, no microwave in the room or on site, no security, thin scratchy toilet paper & tissues. No all day breakfast, it ends at 11am despite the advertising.

Check-in staff-Tues night, we went back to check-in to ask where to get a club card & to ask for new sheets. There was an older woman w/short brown hair there now, reading her phone. We approach her, she's visibly annoyed we are there. My fiance, who is partially deaf & has a speech impediment, but is 100% normal otherwise, asked her where we get the card. She mumbles & neither of us heard her, so I asked her to please repeat herself, this time she gets loud & starts speaking slowly to us that "it's...at...the...top...of... the...stairs", I was so mad, I had to walk away before I told her off. We didn't even bother asking for sheets.

The guy at the cafe Tues night was literally working sick & also didn't want to be there dealing w/us, we still tipped him. It was the only place open so we got cheese pizzas & went to our room, we don't drink, but 5 hrs later we were both sick & spent our 2nd day in bed minus a trip to get meds & reschedule our hot springs trip.

Grill staff, Wed night around 8pm when we finally tried to eat again, the server & hostess were great, they helped us use our cards & were so welcoming. They got a 30% tip on a to-go order as a thanks.

Grill staff on Thursday mid-day were rude & accusatory. After 2 days on that bed & since nobody answered when we called, I sent my fiance to order for us as it hurt for me to walk, i'm 41 but I do have limitations. He gets there & nobody is at the stand at 1140am, but there is a guy at a table in the back eating who made eye contact. After 10 mins, he reluctantly gets up from his meal to wait on my fiance. Again, people can be jerks with his disabilities, but this guy was a jerk before talking to him. When my fiance tried to order for us, the guy refused to take my order, he then accused my fiance of taking someone's card trying to get himself 2 discounts. Then said that I had to come with my state license & prove it was me; he went back to eat after charging him for one meal but it never got made. I arrive to prove who I am & order around 1155am, the guy refused to help & we stood waiting for a very unfriendly woman. Mind you, none of this occurred the night before at the same restaurant. We waited till 1230pm, watching them give our meals to the staff(their friends) who ordered after us, who then stood & ate it in front of us behind the bar. When they finally had our order, the woman told us she was sorry they accidentally gave our meals away & had to remake them. Yeah right.

Needless to say we won't be back. If you're seeking a relaxing break from the city, to play some poker & be treated like a guest instead of a burden, then go...

Room was clean and bed was soft but comfortable. The hot water in the shower took several minutes actually get hot, and the tub didn't drain properly so you stand in several inches of water while showering. There is a refrigerator in room, but no microwave or coffee maker. Also no information in the room about the property or restaurants on site. They also have "ice bags" instead of an ice bucket in some of the rooms. The bag is too small to easily scoop out ice with a cup, it was a clear bag a bit smaller than a paper lunch sack,it looked like a gift bag. It was also not made to hold liquid as I found out when I slipped and fell after stepping in the puddle on the tile floor while going to use the bathroom in the middle of the night. Luckily I wasn't seriously hurt. When I told the front desk they somehow found a real ice bucket, but didn't ask if I was alright, just said I should have told them right away. Was given coupons for a free breakfast entrée and Starbucks beverage, unfortunately you have to go to 2 different restaurants on 2 different floors to redeem. The food was delicious, I had a breakfast burrito the first morning and it was huge. Unfortunately it took 30 minutes to come out because the kitchen was on break. The server/ host was very attentive and apologized for the wait. I also had to wait for the employee to come back from break to get my Chia Latte the first morning and then it was only lukewarm. The second morning I had to wait until the employee finished a lengthy conversation with another employee and the tea was only lukewarm again. For dinner I ordered the prime rib with water to drink. I had to ask again for a glass of water, but the server still didn't bring any. He finally brought it with my meal. The host/server spent more time back in the kitchen than he did out front. I asked for my check and a to go box. He got my check and disappeared again. After waiting at least 5 minutes I finally had another employee go into the kitchen to send him out. The restaurant wasn't busy. While gambling I had to cash out and go to the bar to get a drink, this was both Sunday and Monday nights. Also the bar was unmanned way too much,Tuesday morning I tried to find a bartender or coctail server for 2 hours without any luck. I finally gave up and went to...
