Nice museum. Not overly inundated with artifacts. Loved the building. I felt like I was stepping back into time when I entered the museum surrounded by columns in the build of the museum. That was lovely. The place was immaculately cared for and I truly appreciated that. The curators were knowledgeable and very friendly. There wasn’t a lot of items from the past to represent the city but a great deal of effort is being put into the place.

The Colton Area Museum is dedicated to preserving and sharing the city’s history through a variety of exhibits and interactive events that take place throughout the year. Some of the exhibits you’ll be able to explore include the Earp Family History, Memorabilia of Pioneer Colton Families, Hometown Heroes, early industries, and Women’s Clothes of the 19th and 20th centuries. There are also tributes to the fire and police departments.

Neat little museum highlighting the area's history. They have vintage clothing, record players, photos, memorabilia, artifacts, and much more! The volunteers working there are super knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. I learned so much. Another great thing about this museum is that it's free to visit!

The small city of Colton has a large deep history in the Inland Empire of Southern California. Recently renovated and reopened in February 2024. Not only are you able to see the timeline of the City of Colton, but also many of the industries and topics of interest. Of note are the Railroad, Citrus Industry, The Earp Family, mining of Slover Mountain ( Colton Portland Cement), and Movieland Frontier Town. The building itself is historic, first opening in 1908 as a public library with funding from the Carnegie foundation. The staff are passionate about the history and sharing it with those who visit. It's free to visit but only open on Fridays and Saturday's...
